More than just put attention on the top 10, it is interesting to analyze the 4 major contributors on why does the people is not embracing the AI: 1. There is no defined business case: 42%: is hard to defined a business case (mostly related to item #2) and then to justify the investment 2. Not clear what AI can be used for: 39%, there is lack of knowledge in the possibilities of using the AI 3. Don’t have the required skills: 33%, AI is related (for certain people) as “magical treat” that is reserved for geniuses, and just as with the born of cellphones era, it is just a matter of time to get familiar with it 4. Need first to invest in modernizing data management platform: 29%, investment to AI is probably one of the most difficult issues, because due to the fact that is a new tendency, it tends to be expensive; and it will take time to lower the cost down. In regards of the technologies, the one we are more familiar with should be the Virtual Agents, that we already have in our tablets, cellphones, and even software, the wide variety of “personal assistants” is the first close encounter we have with AI. No matter what the obstacles are, we will overcoming them because AI is already within and there is no way to get away from it. A group of students we have created a webpage “ The Artificial Brain “, you can check it out on the following link : https://sites.google.com/.../the.../videos-sobre-i-a Please note that the page is in Spanish

I'm "old school", and proud of t. I still think a film should have impact; have something to say; make a statement! I refuse to get caught up in the "fancy-smancy, artificial inteligence" bull-crap, still, without making a statement of some kind. My spelling might be off, but, one knows exactly what I'm saying! I;m not above using "virtual people" but folks, keep your messages real......I see no merit in proclaiming, " I know something about AI! (artificial intelligence), yet, producing nil, to no usable content..

Oxcyon, who makes a product called Centralpoint, calls it an ECOSYSTEM, or Digital Experience Platform, which seems to be closer to mark because the management of information goes 'both ways' so it is an ecosystem. Centralpoint is a User Experience Platform providing CMS, Portals.

1- How can you promote collaboration when the 1% is literally stealing from the 99%? AI has, does and will cut jobs! 2- Jobs are the only way for the 99% to be able to afford living! 3- Meshing will allow tracking of individuals to a point never seen before! 4- Stop ruling using fear! Open source software can do all the above, while servige THE PEOPLE! My future is "LIVING"! Not working!

Next one with "artificial intelligence".... Guy, for now we do NOT have any AI. All we have are algorithms and fast computers. Nothing more. Read about Turing test.
@David Lopez Machine Learning is still just super fast computing. Its advantage is its architecture: layers of nodes that pass of computations forward and backwards to figure out the parameters of a function that most accurately maps an input to an output. That's the smart sounding (aka gibberish) definition. Practically, machine learning is nothing more than a super fast guessing machine.Billions and billions of wrong predictions so it can figure out the right one. As far as winning chess, go, or Dota games, there's nothing special about that. A simplified analogy is saying that a calculator can compute 1,245,978 : 856,234 faster than a human. So what? It doesn't make the calculator smart. It just makes it a useful tool. That's all. 😁
@Podunk Man I agree with you. AI is a misnomer. There is no intelligence. There is only super fast computing. Maybe be should call it Algorithmic Iterations. 😁

You clearly don't know what the state of AI is, research machine learning which is the most used branch of AI and the state of the art at the moment. It's being used everywhere, machine learning is what beat Kasparov in chess, Lee Sedong in Go, and Dendi in Dota 2. It's a HUUUGE deal

Well presented. I've been using and evangelizing the term "Augmented Intelligence" for about 10 years now. I was happy to hear it used but would have appreciated some attribution in the footnotes. Still, the trends offer outstanding strategic guidance that will help many organizations navigate the year ahead. Well done, Gartner! Have a great and prosperous 2018.
@Nadja Hawas Do you mind letting me know what kind of research you're interested in? I'm teaching myself Data Science and would like the opportunity to work on useful projects. This is not a request for paid work. I'm not good enough to get paid ... yet. 😁
