Air Pollution for Kids | #aumsum #kids #education #science #pollution

04:58
Air Pollution. Due to cutting of trees, burning of wood, burning of fossil fuels, smoke released from factories and industries, smoke released from vehicles our air is getting polluted. Due to air pollution, human beings suffer from a number of diseases like Asthma, Bronchitis, Cancer. Air pollution also affects the growth of plants. Air pollution causes damage to our beautiful historical monuments. To reduce pollution, we should take some preventive measures: Plant more trees. Avoid bursting firecrackers. Make more use of public transport. Service your vehicles regularly. Factories and power plants should be set up far from residential areas to reduce air pollution.

Causes and effects of water pollution

01:17
Water is a  basic resource that  guarantees the life of all living beings on the planet. However, its scarcity and pollution cause millions of people to have poor access to this much-needed asset. Although there are processes such as water treatment or desalination that facilitate its treatment, use and consumption in areas with quality or supply problems, it is first necessary to avoid its contamination. In this video we show you what are the main causes of water pollution, as well as its effects. So, if economics is about choices and how we use our resources, econ probably has a lot to say about the environment, right? Right! In simple terms, pollution is just a market failure. The market is producing more pollution than society wants. This week, Adriene and Jacob focus on the environment, and how economics can be used to control and reduce pollution and emissions. You'll learn about supply and demand, incentives, and how government intervention influences the environment. Crash Course is on Patreon! 030 - Water Pollution In this video Paul Andersen explains how water quality can be degraded by pollutants. Wastewater is the main source of water pollution and can be measure using the BOD (biochemical oxygen demand). Dead zones, cultural eutrophication, disease, and other pollutants are included. A basic description of sewage treatment, septic systems, and water purification is also included. Do you speak another language? The ocean covers almost three quarters of our planet. Populations in coastal regions are growing and placing increasing pressure on coastal and marine ecosystems. Marine pollution of many kinds threatens the health of the ocean and its living resources. While the past decades have seen efforts at the local, national, and international levels to address the problems of marine pollution, more needs to be done. Water Pollution for Kids | #aumsum #kids #education #science #learn

Our topic for today is Water Pollution. Contamination of water by harmful substances, which affects life on earth, is termed as water pollution. Due to human activities, our water is getting more and more polluted day by day. Household garbage is disposed into various sources of water. Many people perform their domestic activities like bathing, washing clothes and utensils, etc. in these sources of water. Also, industrial wastes are discharged into the water, leading to water pollution. Consumption of this polluted water leads to diseases like cholera, typhoid, diarrhoea, etc. in human beings. Polluted water also adversely affects the aquatic life. Thus, we need to make sure that we do not pollute water. Domestic activities such as bathing, washing clothes and utensils should not be done in rivers, lakes, ponds, etc. Household garbage should not be disposed in the various sources of water. Also, sewage and industrial waste water should be treated before discharging into the water.

Under the Swachh Bharat Mission – Gramin (SBM-G) as many as 10,82,963 individual household toilets (IHHLs) have been constructed in Jammu and Kashmir.  From March this year, 3,28,561 toilets have been built in the state.  Members of Zila Swachh Bharat Preraks (ZSBPs), a young cadre of skilled professionals, said they are putting lot of efforts towards making J&K an Open Defecation Free (ODF) state. “We are also working actively at the grassroots to effect behavioural change in people towards the sanitation,” they said. The ZSBPs visit door to door to spread awareness about sanitation and ensure sanitary facilities in houses, schools, anganwadis and places of community congregation, they said. The professionals claimed that they are working for solid and liquid waste management activities.  “We are also busy in developing linkages and networking with various stakeholders such as village communities, schools, government offices and civil society members to achieve the sustained goal,” they said. At the time of launch, 23% households as per the baseline survey 2012 were having toilets for safe disposal of human excreta whereas major chunk of households comprising 77% were without toilet facility, who defecated in the open with some among them using dry latrines. With the efforts of the ZSBPs, Jammu and Kashmir has been able in make 12 districts, 3,249 Gram Panchayats and 5,885 villages  open defecation free, with 74.67 % increase in households with toilet.  While as remaining districts are on saturation mode with less than 2% of households remaining left. 1345 number of community sanitary complexes (CSCs) were also constructed under the mission during this period. ZSBPs were engaged under a programme run jointly by the Union Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation along with Tata Trusts with the objective of ending open defecation by 2nd October, 2019.
