Articles. Time management. Habits. [FRDP #6]
It was my first week of "learning English" and it was interesting. I tried to get rid of my habit of overemphasizing articles. But the habits are really hard to get rid of as you will see. I'm also trying to find a time-management approach that would work for me and help me keep everything organized (but not too organized). Let's talk about it.

What HR Managers Learn About You By Looking at Your Clothes
If you want to get your dream job, it’s crucially important to make the best possible first impression on the recruiter, and everything, including your style, means a lot. There are five vital things you should know that hiring professionals use to form their opinions about you and decide if you will fit into the corporate culture and get the job or not. Sherry Maysonave, head of Empowerment Enterprises, an image consulting firm based in Austin, Texas, says that the first impression happens in less than 30 seconds and it’s based entirely on your attire. Using the color of your clothes, you can influence other people however you want. Pastel colors in clothes and makeup can help you win other people’s trust. The most important thing is not to overdo it. Blue is probably the best color choice for a job interview, unless you’re aiming for a creative job. The color red represents the life force and the inclination to be successful and efficient. Business suits are not always the best choice for a job interview because the impression you may give the employer is that you are “overqualified.” A tasteful statement dress that doesn’t reveal your neckline and ends around 1 inch above the very top of your knee will do just fine. Your attire should be as close to the company dress code as possible. People are more eager to accept other people who are like them, so the more you look like the other employees, the easier it is for an HR manager to imagine you working with them. Music: https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music TIMESTAMPS What the colors of your clothes say about you 0:33 What the style of your clothes says about you 3:21 What your brands say about you 5:07 Illustrative details 5:47 How well can you fit into the corporate culture 6:52 SUMMARY -Blue is probably the best color choice for a job interview. If you choose clothes with contrasting colors, you could make a powerful and dominant impression. The worst color choice for a job interview, according to studies and opinions of specialists, is orange — it’s often associated with something unprofessional. -A business quit is the perfect choice if a manager is hiring for a senior-level position, a flower print dress won’t do in this case. But if you are looking for a job teaching children or a creative job, this type of attire is not just appropriate, but also preferable. -It’s better to impress your prospective employee with your professional achievements and attitude to work than with luxury brand logos. -Bad manicure, old clothes, and other little flaws, can make a very negative impression. Wear small and elegant pieces of jewelry like small earrings, bracelets, and watches. Your bag should have a clear shape. -Use social media to find out all about the company dress code and try to look like the other employees at the interview. WEIGHT LOSS TIPS // 9 science-backed tips to lose weight + keep it off
Most weight loss tips don't work long-term because they focus on quick fixes. In this video, I'm going to share 9 science-backed tips that do work and have research to back them up. These are the tips that helped me lose 40 pounds gradually and keep it off. I was 160 pounds at my heaviest weight and today I am just below 120 pounds - at the time of this video I am 119 pounds. My height is just a tad under 5' 5'' (165 cm). I lost the weight in two phases. In phase 1, where I drastically reduced my sugar intake and increased my daily activity, I went from 160 pounds to 140 pounds. Then, I hovered between 135 and 140 pounds for most of my twenties. In my thirties, I decided to drop some more body fat to reduce my risk of diabetes. I went from 135 pounds to 120 pounds in my mid-thirties. This was the hardest weight to lose and it didn't drop off as easily as the first 20 pounds. I focused on eating whole, unprocessed foods and daily activity (exercise and non-exercise related too) as well as other lifestyle and nutrition changes. The tips in this video have helped me lose the excess weight and also keep it off. These aren't changes to make for a short period of time. These are all long-term changes that require consistency. When it comes to weight loss, CONSISTENCY is key. There are many different ways to lose weight, so do what works for you, but keep it consistent. Good luck on your weight loss journey! Note: Any reference to diabetes in this video is to type 2 diabetes and not type 1 diabetes. I Adopted Rich People’s Habits, See How My Life Changed
Learn the secrets of success from those who built their own empires from scratch. You can try adopting the habits of super rich people and see how it will help you save money. Successful people are rarely night owls; they go to bed and wake up quite early. So this was the first habit I decided to take on. By the end of the first week, I noticed that I was able to do way more before noon than I could ever do during the whole day. One more week into the experiment I started waking up completely well-rested and excited to start a new day. Self-made successes swear by exercising every day for at least 30 minutes. After just 10 days, it already became a habit. I became more concentrated and calmer. If meditating helps successful people stay on top of their game, it should help me out too. Networking is like currency for successful people. A lot of successful people (like Steve Jobs, for instance) keep a super minimalistic approach to fashion, often wearing the same outfit every day. Truly smart and successful people control their expenses and don’t spend their money on useless things. Music: Operatic - Vibe Mountain https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music TIMESTAMPS Go to bed and wake up quite early 0:34 Exercise every day for at least 30 minutes 1:51 Meditate 3:01 Set goals and achieve them 3:57 Meet new people as much as you can 4:44 Read more useful books 5:34 Wear simple clothes 6:24 Be thrifty 7:10 Conclusion 8:08 SUMMARY -With will power of steel, I decided to wake up at the same time every day and come to work an hour early. It took me 3 days to get the schedule right. -The hardest part here wasn't even the gym itself, it was exercising after working all day. After just 10 days, it already became a habit. I started sleeping better and waking up easier. -Meditation turned out to be a really good way to get my head straight and renew my energy. -Even though I didn’t manage to tackle all my tasks, I was able to do more things in the first week than I did during the entire previous month. -I learned to find common ground with people from the get-go, met a lot of extraordinary individuals, and made some really good friends. -I carried a book with me at all times and read it on the way to work and back home or during lunch. As a result, by the end of the first month, I had finished my fourth book. -I no longer had to waste time every day choosing my outfit, deciding whether or not it matched or if it was trendy and whatnot. -I started out by making a list of everything that I bought every day so that I could see what I spent my money on. This system helped me save 40% of my salary in the first month and almost 60% in the second. -New habits really did completely change my life for the better. No amount of money is worth losing your friend over. - It's more cost-effective to spend more money on durable things because you’re not buying them again and again. - If you’re on a tight budget, impulse shopping will punch holes right through it. - If you save at least $20 to $50 a month, you’ll have a decent amount in your account when you’re elderly, which will make you feel more secure. - Next time you go to the grocery store, count up how much you spend on your food. - Anything can happen, and some things demand a lot of money from you. - Partners should be unanimous when it comes to financial questions. - Study the best ways to invest money and choose the one that suits you the most. What Is Ego - How Your Ego Dictates Your Entire Life
What Is Ego - Learn what the ego is and how it influences the quality of your life. Master your ego, master your life. The Ultimate Life Purpose Course - Create Your Dream Career: http://www.actualized.org/life-purpose-course Leo's Top 140 Self Help Books http://www.actualized.org/books Full Video Transcript Here: http://www.actualized.org/articles/what-is-ego Video Summary: Hey, this is Leo for Actualized.org. In this video, we're going to talk about what is ego. Let's talk a little bit about what ego is. I'm sure you've heard about it. I'm sure you've heard people talking about the problems that the ego can cause for you. You've probably heard about ego death. You've probably heard about both positive and negative sides of ego. Let's talk about ego and, specifically, about who how you can understand this concept and relate it to success and personal development. It's how to get more success in your life by understanding ego. What is ego? Ego is basically that aspect of yourself that you consider to be "you." When I say your name and you think, "Yeah, that's me," that is ego. Ego is your self-image of who you are. Ego is a complex construct in your mind. It's sitting both at the conscious and the deep subconscious level. Ego is that "I" that you think you are. It's the thoughts and emotions that you are identified with. It's the beliefs that you think are rock solid and completely true. It's what you think reality is like. That whole construct is a big and deep iceberg. It's like gigantic iceberg and only the tip of it, like 10 percent, is sticking out of the water. The other 90 percent is all submerged and you don't know what it is. It's just operating. It's just working. The ego is you. The ego has a couple of features. The fundamental thing that the ego does is separates itself from everything else that's out in the world. If you're coming from the ego -- and this applies to 99.999% percent of people, including myself -- you say, "This is me," and you look at everything else as not you. That desk is not you. That other person is not you. That other country is not you. You are distinct. You are just your mind and your body. You're the skin that you have and everything beyond your skin is something else. You have that clear separation. This is something that you get as a biological entity, as an organism who that needs to survive and depends on survival and reproduction. We, as a species, and every living organism, has a sense of this. It's the sense of "I"-ness. It's the sense of "This is me." This is what's important and the other stuff is not so important.

I Lived Like Elon Musk for a Week But One Day Was Enough
They say success is a mindset. No offense to whoever “they” are, but that doesn’t really help most people much. So what about a real-life example to live by? If you've got problems with procrastinating, feeling overwhelmed by all the stuff you need to get done, and just overall pitiful time management skills, this is what can help you. Okay, now, who's one of the most successful and productive dudes out there? You're right! It's Elon Musk! This guy is a productivity ninja who’s mastered the art of time management. He heads multiple companies, the most well-known being Tesla and SpaceX, and has admitted that he works 100 hours a week or more! Let's try to follow his typical schedule for a week. Other videos you might like: Why “C” Students Are More Successful Than “A” Students https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iGq4thkAk5E& 12 Things That Ruin a First Impression Immediately https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JrbnTZPjg0k& Why I Started Waking Up at 5:30 AM And How It Changed My Life https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TmORMKTHuOs TIMESTAMPS: 6 hours of sleep isn’t enough, Mr. Musk! 😵 1:07 New “diet” 2:35 Golden productivity rule 4:05 The first results (I was mind-blown!) 5:14 What about phone calls? 5:52 Where Musk gets his energy 6:31 The fun part - the weekend! 6:58 Some conclusions 7:35 #elonmusk #success #brightside Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/ SUMMARY: - I started on a Sunday evening by planning my week ahead based on what I’d read about Elon Musk’s routine. Much to my dismay, the first thing I found out is that he wakes up at 7am every single day and functions on just 6 hours of sleep! - I’m a pretty traditional guy – I like to get my recommended 7-9 hours of shuteye each night, so 6 hours was not enough. - Elon Musk skips breakfast… Well, at least he drinks coffee! To be honest, the first couple of days with no breakfast hit me hard. - One of Musk’s golden productivity rules is to work in a 5-minute block system, which means that for 5-minutes, I had to stay completely focused on one thing and then switch to another. - Some of my projects take hours to finish. But by breaking them down into smaller steps that I spent less time on, in the end, it took me fewer hours to get my projects done! - The first day, what used to take me a solid 8 hours to do ended up taking me just 6. By the week’s end, I’d cut that number down to 4! - As for phone calls, Elon suggests NOT taking any calls during the day except for emergencies. - I really saved a lot of time on the email thing. I would’ve never guessed I was wasting so much time going through my inbox! - So, I hit the gym twice this week, and, I gotta say, I think I understand where Musk gets his energy – working out really does charge your battery, so to speak. - Getting 6 hours of sleep is not for me, but I like getting up at 7 and having time to plan my day ahead. So, I’ll hit the sack at 12am to get that precious extra hour of shuteye. - And I’ll spend some of that extra hour on a good breakfast. Even if experts say you can go without, I’d prefer to fill my tank before I head to work! - Planning the day ahead and tackling tasks in 5-minute blocks will be my new norm. - I’ll continue ditching my phone during work hours and keeping the emailing at a minimum because this saved me loads of time. - I’m enjoying the gym, and I feel really good! It’s even become a sort of new hobby of mine. - As for the weekends, I need my Saturdays, man! I understand Elon has a lot on his plate, but I’m no CEO or entrepreneur, so I can afford to take 2 days off a week instead of just one. The Attachment Theory - How Childhood Trauma Affects Your Life
The attachment theory argues that a strong emotional and physical bond to one primary caregiver in our first years of life, is critical to our development. If our bonding is strong and we are securely attached, then we feel safe to explore the world. If our bond is weak, we feel insecurely attached. We are afraid to leave or explore a rather scary-looking world. Because we are not sure if we can return. Often we then don't understand our own feelings. Special thanks for our patroeon supporters: Ville Medeiros, Chutimon Nuangnit, Cedric Wang, Mike, Eva Marie Koblin, Julien Dumesnil, Mathis and the others. You are wonderful !!! For those who feel like they can’t help themselves, or can’t find trust through their partners of family, we recommend looking for professional support through a therapy. If you are able to form a secure attachment to a therapist, he can become the one who provides you with that secure base. Here three of possible therapies: 1. Psychoanalysis. The aim of psychoanalysis therapy is to release repressed emotions and experiences, i.e., make the unconscious conscious. In order to do that they therapist might try to bring back some childhood memories, to work at the root cause of the problem. 2. Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT). CBT is a psycho-social intervention that is widely used for improving mental health. Instead of trying to bring you back in time, it aims to explain you whats going on inside your brain and how to cope with irrational feelings or fears. 3. The Hoffmann Process. This 7-8 days guided process, designed by the American psychologist Hoffmann, brings participants back into their childhood to reconnect with their parents at the time when attachment is formed. Its very intensive. 11 Secrets to Memorize Things Quicker Than Others
We learn things throughout our entire lives, but we still don’t know everything because we forget a lot of information. Bright Side will tell you about 11 simple memorizing tips that will help you remember everything and improve your memory. TIMESTAMPS Why we forget things 1:04 How to remember everything 2:00 How to memorize something quickly 2:30 How to memorize something for a long time 3:20 Try to understand what you learn 4:17 Learn the most necessary information 5:11 Serial position effect 5:45 Interference theory 6:06 Learn opposite things 7:22 Build your own «mind palace» 7:22 Use «nail words» 8:19 Make up stories 8:40 Use a tape recorder 9:10 Visualize 9:51 Choose only the best materials 9:59 SUMMARY - Your brain is like a hard drive — the space is limited. Remember Sherlock Holmes? He couldn’t name all the planets of the Solar system — this was not because he missed school or something like that, but because he was too smart to have such irrelevant information in his memory. He deliberately erased facts he would never need. This is what your brain does: it protects you from overloading with information. That’s why all new data is stored in the short-term memory, not the long-term one. So, if you don’t repeat it or use it, you forget it very quickly. A German psychologist, Hermann Ebbinghaus researched the memory and its mechanisms. He described the Forgetting Curve which shows that just one hour after learning something new we forget more than half of the learned information. One day later we remember only about 30% percent. Well, you see where this is going. - There is a memorization technique called «Spaced repetition». To keep some information in your head for a longer time, you need to try to put it into your long-term memory. Forced memorization is not very effective in this case because your brain can’t make sense of the information quickly and form strong associations. Here it all depends on the reason why you are learning something. - To memorize something quickly, repeat the information right after learning it. The second repetition should be after 15-20 minutes. You don’t need to return to the information between repetitions — just rest and do something different. Let your brain relax. Repeat the learned material the third time after 6-8 hours. And you should have the final repetition 24 hours after the first contact with the information. Do you know any other memorizing tips? If yes, share them in the comment section below! POLITICAL THEORY - John Maynard Keynes
John Maynard Keynes was arguably the greatest economist of the 20th century. He discovered the idea that governments should stimulate demand during economic downturns – and was the creator of both the IMF and the World Bank. Who Owns Your Life Story? Free Speech Rules (Episode 4)
Do people need your permission to write about you? What if they want to make a movie about you, or a YouTube video, blog post, whatever? Who owns your name, likeness, voice, and life story? Here's the answer, in four rules. Well, two rules, one who-knows, and one piece of advice. Rule 1: People can write books about you, make movies about you, or write articles about you, all without violating your so-called "right of publicity." That right is often defined as an exclusive right to commercial use of your name, likeness, voice, and other "attributes of identity"; but it does not apply to biography, fiction, news coverage, and so on. The First Amendment protects people's ability to write about others. That's what newspapers do, both about famous people and about ordinary ones who happen to draw the newspaper's attention. It's also why we see unauthorized biographies, whether in print or on the screen, and fiction with real characters, like Midnight in Paris and Forrest Gump. And that's true even though those items are distributed for money. So, you don't really own your name or likeness or life story, in the sense of having exclusive rights over it. Neither does your biographer. No-one owns it, because everyone is free to use it, at least when they're commenting about you and your life. Rule 2: People generally can't use your name, likeness, or voice in commercial advertising. In some situations, such use can also violate trademark law, because consumers might be confused into thinking you're endorsing the product. Exception: If people are advertising books about you or newspapers that mention you, it's OK for them to use your name or picture in doing so. Such ads are treated like the underlying book or newspaper, and are therefore allowed. This right to prevent the use of a name or likeness in advertising applies not just to living people, but also to recently dead ones. How recent? Depends on the state where the people were living when they died. Some states cover people for 50 years after their death, some more, some less. Rule 3: When it comes to merchandising, different state and federal courts have reached different results about this, often inconsistent results. Indeed, the Missouri Supreme Court held that people can sue over use of their name in comic books, though courts have consistently rejected this theory for other kinds of books. But this may be an outlier decision; other judges have criticized it, and the California Supreme Court has rejected such a lawsuit, in a comic book case very similar to the Missouri one. It's also unsettled whether athletes' names and statistics can be used in the big business of sports gaming, whether fantasy sports leagues or sports video games. The Supreme Court could resolve whether and when the First Amendment protects such less traditional communications media against right of publicity claims, but the Justices haven't done that yet. And a practical note: Even though creators may have the right to freely use people's names in, say, movies about them, it might still be a good idea to get their agreement, if possible. While filmmakers and authors routinely win right of publicity lawsuits filed against them, there's still some risk and a lot of expense. Safer for the creators to pay some money, if they have it and the person is willing to take it. Second, biographers can be liable for defamation, if they get some significant facts wrong about a living person. Third, working with subjects (or their heirs) can give authors access to facts they otherwise wouldn't know. Fourth, getting the subject's permission can prevent bad publicity, and can enlist the subject into helping promote the work. All this might be impossible, for instance if a biography would be critical of its subject, so that the subject will refuse to cooperate. In that case, the authors may want to stand on their First Amendment rights, see Rule 1. But if cooperation is possible, it's a good idea. Finally, all we say here has to do with American law. These days, much of the revenue for movies comes from other countries—and the rules in those countries might be different. Better safe than sorry, many producers and publishers say. How to Monetize Your Articles and Have The Life You Dreamed Of
http://breakthroughidea.postingonpurpose.com/ - You've Got the Power to Turn your Words Into Profits How to Monetize Your Articles and Have the Life of Your Dreams, gives solid suggestion on how to get started turning your words into profits . It helps you know what do you do before you start writing? Take a deep breath and relax: If you are a pro- you'll find a trick or two to add to your tool box. If you are not a pro then this workshop of Posting on Purpose for Profits is for you. I am convinced that almost anyone can learn to monetize and craft effective sales articles. I have confidence in your ability to learn to monetize your articles: Why? My background tells me that anyone can learn these skills. I went from a hospital bed to generating profits online with my creative writing at age 68, with no skills and no formal education in writing. I did the same thing you can. Let me give you a sample of what I mean: I have always known that titles were very important so I would write a title and test it. I still test. That is how I know what works. I test it. Look at an creative ad I wrote in March of this hear. (See Graph For Results) I wrote ten titles for the ad. Can you tell which ad generated the most traffic? It is very obvious. But if I had not test it, I would not have know. I will show you the titles when we get into the lesson about writing titles. I don't tell you this to brag, I just tell you so you know that you can learn how to do it. I am self taught. Check out this free webinar: http://breakthroughidea.postingonpurpose.com/ Get books and devour them. Read online articles and watch online videos. Use your own insight -- The power of Observation. Build up an idea file -- Swipe file. You don't need much creativity; you simply need to be adept at recycling and reorganizing Ideas, themes, words, and phrases. You don't have to be a top professional to make money from your writing. In most situations, you just need to learn a few skills and and these boot camps will give you those skills. I love a quote from John Francis Tighe, "In the land of the blind, a one eyed man is king." Your success will depend upon your confidence to "do" something and your willingness to "learn how." Here are several important ideas that helped me! • Don't be intimidated: There is no magic or genius, or Stanford degree needed. • Recognize the power of your uniqueness -- you may want to create some 4x6 cards with what you know about your topic, your business, etc. • You may find it helpful to organize a swipe file. That is a very essential tool needed if you want to monetize your articles. • Think Selling. Everything you do with article writing is about selling. You sell your ideas, your philosophy, your purpose, etc. and yes sometimes you sell products and services. As Dan Kennedy, one of the greatest sales letter gurus, said, "If you don't have a sales mentality, get one." Never forget that an article is a sales presentation in print. • Just Write! Write paragraphs, and then learn to assemble the article. • Then the most important thing to remember: Don't e a perfectionist. And you may want to check out this free webinar by Rob Fore that really help me know what to do: http://breakthroughidea.postingonpurpose.com/ Most people think that good writers just sit down and write but I have never known one that does that. The write little chunks then organize, then write little chucks and organize again. The more you write the easier it will get. You learned the greatest lesson in life when you were born: you learned to roll over to you tummy, then push up on your hands, then crawl, than walk, then run. And monetizing your articles is no different. One great writer said, "There is no problem for which a great article can't be the solution. " Rob Fore, another one of my mentors has a webinar called, "Posting On Purpose For Profit." It is so insightful. I encourage you to click on his FREE webinar link and was how he has generated 5 businesses that earn over 6 figures. http://breakthroughidea.postingonpurpose.com/

A Japanese Technique to Overcome Laziness
Almost all of us periodically sets ourselves a new goal or challenge — and just as often in the end fails to achieve them. We end up telling ourselves that we’re just not ready yet, that we’ll do it next week, next month...next year. We might even pursue them with zeal at the start. But once we’ve made a small amount of effort, we’ll tell ourselves we’ve done enough, and it’s time to take this whole ‘starting a new life’ thing more slowly. Why does it always turn out like this? The answer’s fairly obvious: Because we try to achieve too much, too fast; because we get sick of the new responsibility; because it’s difficult to change old habits and try something new. Kaizen originated in Japan, and it is something that anyone can attempt in any sphere of their life. - At the heart of this method is the idea that you should practice doing something for a single minute. Every day at the same time. Just for a minute, no more. - Challenging programs of self-improvement that deprive you of vast amounts of energy can end up exhausting you, and leave no tangible results. - The one-minute principle lets you see the progress you’re making. And it’s a critical part of forming new habits! It’s important to overcome that lack of confidence you might have in your abilities, as well as free yourself from guilt and helplessness. - The moment those feelings inspire you, you will gradually begin to increase the amount of time you spend on the goal that you have set yourself. What does HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT mean? HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT meaning - HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT definition - HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT explanation. Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license. Human resource management (HRM or simply HR) is the management of human resources. It is designed to maximize employee performance in service of an employer's strategic objectives. HR is primarily concerned with the management of people within organizations, focusing on policies and on systems. HR departments are responsible for overseeing employee benefits design, employee recruitment, training and development, performance appraisal, and rewarding (e.g., managing pay and benefit systems). HR also concerns itself with organizational change and industrial relations, that is, the balancing of organizational practices with requirements arising from collective bargaining and from governmental laws. HR is a product of the human relations movement of the early 20th century, when researchers began documenting ways of creating business value through the strategic management of the workforce. It was initially dominated by transactional work, such as payroll and benefits administration, but due to globalization, company consolidation, technological advances, and further research, HR as of 2015 focuses on strategic initiatives like mergers and acquisitions, talent management, succession planning, industrial and labor relations, and diversity and inclusion. Human Resources is a business field focused on maximizing employee productivity. Human Resources professionals manage the human capital of an organization and focus on implementing policies and processes. They can be specialists focusing in on recruiting, training, employee relations or benefits. Recruiting specialists are in charge of finding and hiring top talent. Training and development professionals ensure that employees are trained and have continuous development. This is done through training programs, performance evaluations and reward programs. Employee relations deals with concerns of employees when policies are broken, such as harassment or discrimination. Someone in benefits develops compensation structures, family leave programs, discounts and other benefits that employees can get. On the other side of the field are Human Resources Generalists or Business Partners. These human resources professionals could work in all areas or be labor relations representatives working with unionized employees. In startup companies, trained professionals may perform HR duties. In larger companies, an entire functional group is typically dedicated to the discipline, with staff specializing in various HR tasks and functional leadership engaging in strategic decision-making across the business. To train practitioners for the profession, institutions of higher education, professional associations, and companies themselves have established programs of study dedicated explicitly to the duties of the function. Academic and practitioner organizations may produce field-specific publications. HR is also a field of research study that is popular within the fields of management and industrial/organizational psychology, with research articles appearing in a number of academic journals, including those mentioned later in this article. Businesses are moving globally and forming more diverse teams. It is the role of human resources to make sure that these teams can function and people are able to communicate cross culturally and across borders. Due to changes in business, current topics in human resources are diversity and inclusion as well as using technology to advance employee engagement. In the current global work environment, most companies focus on lowering employee turnover and on retaining the talent and knowledge held by their workforce. New hiring not only entails a high cost but also increases the risk of a newcomer not being able to replace the person who worked in a position before. HR departments strive to offer benefits that will appeal to workers, thus reducing the risk of losing corporate knowledge.

Jim Rohn: Learn This, and You'll Never Be The Same
Jim Rohn: Learn This, and You'll Never Be The Same “Every life form seems to strive to its maximum except human beings. How tall will a tree grow? As tall as it possibly can. Human beings, on the other hand, have been given the dignity of choice. You can choose to be all or you can choose to be less. Why not stretch up to the full measure of the challenge and see what all you can do?” — Jim Rohn And for those who attempt to reach their maximum, the rewards are huge. So if you nurture your hunger for growth, and I know you do, because you are here on Zero to Skill and reading articles just like this one, then you will have an edge in life. Usually, when someone subscribes to my private list, the first thing I ask them is: “What is the one thing stopping you from learning a new skill?” I’ve received a lot of responses, but this one pretty much captures what most of us are going through: “Too many things to learn, too many choices… and scarce time” *CREDIT Jim Rohn Visit Jim Rohn's websites: https://www.jimrohn.com/ https://store.jimrohn.com/ Follow Jim Rohn @: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/OfficialJimRohn/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/OfficialJimRohn FAIR-USE COPYRIGHT DISCLAIMER * Copyright Disclaimer Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for "fair use" for purposes such as criticism, commenting, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research. Which life-saving skills should everyone know? How to save someone's life in a critical situation? Did you know that hydrogen peroxide and iodine could be dangerous for you? A person may start shaking uncontrollably and even go purple, but seizures are self-limiting, and the body is incapable of doing much harm to itself. - Cardiac compressions can easily result in broken ribs, which may severely damage the lungs and heart. You should only do cardiac compressions if you’re sure the person has no pulse, isn’t breathing, and there’s no doctor around. - Paracetamol, or acetaminophen, relieves pain and inflammation, and it is a part of many modern drugs. Keep in mind that its overdose may cause liver and kidney failure. - If you do this, the blood pressure in your head rises. You can’t know how bad the bleeding episode is, so the blood can get into your lungs or cause vomiting. To do it right, hold your head upright to reduce pressure, apply a cold pack, and then close either nostril with your finger for 15 minutes. - If a person is injured with a risk of head, neck, or spine trauma (for example, they don’t feel their limbs, but there’s no blood), call an ambulance. Also, watch the victim’s breathing until the doctors arrive. - Emetic drugs can cause an esophageal burn and make way for poisoned vomit into the lungs. In a suspected poisoning, call an ambulance, describe the symptoms and a probable source of poisoning, and write down the prescribed actions. - An incorrectly applied tourniquet may result in excess limb pressure and can lead to amputation. It doesn’t stop the bleeding but prevents blood circulation which leads to necrosis. To do it right, apply a large amount of sterile gauze or clean cloth to the wound and press tightly — this should be enough until the ambulance arrives. - Peroxide destroys connective tissue cells, preventing the wound from healing. Iodine and alcohol burn healthy cells and can induce pain, shock, and burns if applied to a wound. - The venom mixes with your saliva and makes itself a new target of your mucous membrane. This will accelerate the poisoning and can result in lung edema and heart failure. Designing Your Life | Bill Burnett | TEDxStanford
Executive director of Stanford’s design program at the d.School, Bill Burnett uses design thinking, a career’s worth of starting companies and coaching students, and a childhood spent drawing cars and airplanes under his Grandmother’s sewing machine to inform his work on how to design your life. In five eyebrow-raising findings, Burnett offers simple but life-changing advice on designing the life you want, whether you are contemplating college or retirement. After years of drawing cars and airplanes under his Grandmother’s sewing machine, Bill Burnett went to college where he discovered that there were people in the world who did this kind of thing every day (without the sewing machine), and they were called designers. Thirty years, five companies, and a couple thousand students later, Burnett is still drawing and building things, teaching others how to do the same, and quietly enjoying the fact that no one has discovered that he is having too much fun. As Executive Director of the Design Program at Stanford, he runs undergraduate and graduate programs in design, both interdepartmental programs between the mechanical engineering and art departments. Burnett worked on design of the award-winning Apple PowerBooks and the original Hasbro Star Wars action figures. He holds a number of mechanical and design patents. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx

These First Aid Steps Helped Me Save A Life In A Car Accident
Every year, anywhere from 20-50 million people across the globe are hurt, injured, or involved in car accidents.[1] Because accidents are so common, you may witness one and have to help any victims. However, you might be unsure of the best way to provide aid on a road. By securing the scene and providing aid to any victims, you can help someone involved in a car accident. We will describe crucial symptoms that might occur one month (or even earlier) before a heart attack. You don’t need to become a total hypochondriac, but a bit of health awareness never hurt anybody. Pay close attention in case you are at risk. We can't live without the Sun, but excessive sun exposure can cause a great damage to our skin. Sunburned lips may be extremely painful and cause lots of discomforts. Watch our video to find out how to get rid of sunburned lips! Headphones that go over your ears can also damage your hearing if you use them too long or play music too loudly. They're just not as much of a risk as earbuds are: Having the source of the sound in your ear canal can increase a sound's volume by 6 to 9 decibels — enough to cause some serious problems. Hand-foot-and-mouth disease, or HFMD, is caused by a virus. Symptoms include ulcers, or sores, inside or around the mouth, and a rash or blisters on the hands, feet, legs, or buttocks. And while it's not pleasant, it also isn't serious. Anyone can get the disease, but children under age 10 are most likely to catch it. Nicotine withdrawal may sound like an impossible task, especially you've been smoking for years. Luckily, there are many ways to get rid of this unhealthy habit naturally. Check out these tips to find out how! This Is How Tyler "NINJA" Blevins Spends His Millions
Tyler "Ninja" Blevins is a 27 year-old from Illinois that's managed to go from having a successful eSports career to having an even more successful streaming career earning him approximately 1 million dollars PER MONTH! After becoming a professional gamer back in 2009, it took a few years before Ninja won his first-ever professional gaming tournament. But he was still managing to make about $100 a day streaming on Twitch back when he didn't have any gaming clout. While he is widely known for his skill in the game Fortnite, Ninja actually started off by playing Halo professionally. But thank god he made the switch because Fortnite is what put Tyler on the international map. He was the first Fortnite Twitch streamer to reach five million followers on the website and was also the first to have 250,000 subscribers. However, as you'll soon find out in this video, just because he reached 250,000 subs, it doesn't mean that he was able to keep them all. Either way, Ninja's wife-slash-manager confirmed that Ninja made $10 million in 2018 alone from streaming on Twitch and reposting those streams to YouTube—and that $10 million only accounts for 70% of his 2018 income. Clearly, Ninja is doing something right with his streams and he's become a multi-millionaire because of it. He was even the first gamer to ever be on the cover of ESPN magazine, proving that gaming is gaining more and more traction as a "real sport." And why shouldn't it be considered a real sport? Ninja dedicates twelve hours a day to his streams and hardly ever takes a break from it. He even sacrifices his sleep for the sake of his streaming career. Thankfully, he loves what he does and can't imagine doing anything else. Curious to know what exactly he spends his millions on? Check out this video to find out! P.S. We do know he just got himself a cool new studio but since we didn’t want to get called out for “stream sniping” we didn’t cover it.
