Florence Vacation Travel Guide | Expedia

03:51
https://www.expedia.com/Florence.d179893.Destination-Travel-Guides Florence, Italy, is a bustling Mediterranean city loaded with delicious Italian food and thousands of years of recorded history. Florence began 59 B.C., when Julius Caesar’s former soldiers settled along the Arno River. The city, initially called Florentia, grew up around these settlements. Today, the old Roman parts of the city are long gone, but the Piazza della Repubblica features a towering monument—the Column of Abundance—where the ancient Roman main streets met. Explore some additional history at the Centro Storico, the historic center of the city. This area features a number of medieval buildings, like the breathtaking Florence Cathedral. Centro Storico is also where you can meet Il Porcellino, a bronze boar statue that is something of a mascot for Florence. Put a coin in his mouth for good luck—it can’t hurt, right? Continue your Florence tour by taking in some of the world’s most stunning religious art, much of it created under the Medici family in the 15th and 16th centuries. You’ll find statues in parks and fountains, as well as outside and inside buildings. Stop by the Uffizi Gallery, which spans a full city block, and view paintings by great artists such as Sandro Botticelli. You’ll also want to visit the Gallery of The Academy to see some of Michelangelo’s seminal work. On the south side of the Arno River is Palazzo Pitti, one of the Medici family’s residences during the Renaissance. It’s now a large set of galleries, where you can view some of the Medici heirlooms and some of their prized artwork, including pieces by Raphael and Correggio. What will you do in Florence? To buy whatever you want without ever thinking about money. It’s a life that most people dream of, but never get to see...until now. We are about to take you Inside the Lives of the Rich Kids of Italy. First, you should know that these rich kids come from long lines of rich people. A recent study has shown that the wealthiest families in some of Italy’s major cities are the same families that were the richest 600 years ago! So these kids definitely grew up with silver spoons in their mouths. Most rich kids love to shop, but the kids of Italy go over and above! Why? Because they can! Italy is one of the most famous shopping destinations around. They have some of the biggest brands in the world and the country is home to the largest Fendi store to ever exist! You almost have to be rich to even go shopping in Italy. They also love expensive cars. Just take a look at any of their Instagrams, the ItalianRichKids Instagram, or the RichKidsofItaly Instagram and you will see what we mean. Lamborghinis, Ferraris, and Mercedes galore! Whether it’s spending their money on clothes, attending Fashion week in Milan, or taking over huge empires, the lives of the rich kids in Italy are nothing like you would have imagined. Stay tuned to see Inside the Lives of the Rich Kids of Italy and we will show you who the richest person in all of Italy is! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Our Social Media: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TheTalko Twitter: https://twitter.com/thetalko Instagram: https://instagram.com/the_talko ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For more videos and articles visit: http://www.thetalko.com/

AMAZING CINQUE TERRE IN ITALY - Vlog

05:38
Cinque Terre is a popular destination in Italy, and a dream for many around the world, including photographers. You can find more blog articles about Italy here ➡️ https://www.swedishnomad.com/italy Follow me on Social media ⤵️ https://Instagram.com/Swedishnomad https://Facebook.com/Swedishnomad https://Twitter.com/Swenomad I've wanted to go here for a long time, so to finally be able to see it with my own eyes was amazing! We did this trip together with https://www.momondo.com as a part of showing you guys that it doesn't have to be expensive to travel in Italy. Christine and I were in Italy for 14 days, and we didn't spend more than 50 Euro per day, including accommodation and transport. In this vlog I'm giving you a couple of glimpses from the Cinque Terre, which consists of 5 villages. You can choose to take the train between the villages or go hiking. We tried both ways, and if you like being outdoors, then Cinque Terre is a great destination. The trails are not really difficult if you're healthy, but you will need good shoes and water, and some wine wouldn't hurt either! The hiking paths in Cinque Terre are gorgeous, lush and very peaceful. As you can imagine, most people who come here actually go for the shuttle buses or local train (which is a bit pricey if you ask me, 4 Euro per ride). You can also opt for the train card to make the most out of your time here. Even though the five villages are close to each other, some trails will take you more than 1 hour, even though it's just slightly more than 2-3 kilometers. The villages of Cinque Terre are Riomaggiore, Vernazza, Manarola, Corniglia and Monterosso. These are all unique in their own way. They are all very colorful places and my favorites were Manarola and Vernazza for photography, and Riomaggiore and the old part of Monterosso for vacation and enjoying myself. Hope you enjoyed this video from Cinque Terre. It's my first vlog, so I know it's not the best, but I promise to become better and better at vlogging as I travel around the world and share it with you guys!

Italian Food Tour at Central Market in Florence, Italy

12:12
Join us for an Italian Food Tour at Central Market in Florence, Italy as we sample numerous savory and sweet dishes on the second level of the market. Prior to arriving at the Central Market (Mercato Centrale) we had this idea that it would be upscale and touristy with prices to match but were pleasantly surprised by how affordable it was to grab tasty bites on a budget. We ended up spending just over 23 Euros total for the two of us to sample a lot of different food at Florence Central Market (Mercato di San Lorenzo). Here is the list of food items we had at the market: 1) Parmigiano Reggiano (parmesan cheese cubes) 2) Burrata sandwich with prosciutto 3) Trapizzino (pizza dough with a stuffed filling) 4) Arancini (crispy rice balls with a savory filling) 5) Cannoli dessert with gelato inside 6) Malaga gelato (rum and raisin flavored ice cream) Location of Florence Central Market Information: Florence Central Market (Mercato Centrale / Mercato di San Lorenzo) Address: Piazza del Mercato Centrale – Via dell’Ariento, 50123 Firenze FI, Italy Hours: Monday to Sunday (daily) from 8AM–12AM Phone: +39 055 239 9798 GEAR WE USE Panasonic GH5: http://amzn.to/2yqTUyi Canon G7X ii: http://amzn.to/2yqtM6B Rode Video Micro: http://amzn.to/2wTguTM Joby Gorilla Pod: http://amzn.to/1PgoY5F SanDisk 16GB Extreme Pro: http://amzn.to/25KEErs SOCIAL MEDIA & TRAVEL BLOGS AUDREY: blog: http://thatbackpacker.com/ instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thatbackpacker/ facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thatbackpacker twitter: https://twitter.com/ThatBackpacker SAMUEL: blog: http://nomadicsamuel.com/ facebook: https://www.facebook.com/nomadicsamuel twitter: https://twitter.com/NomadicSamuel instagram: https://www.instagram.com/nomadicsamuel/ Italian Food Tour at Central Market in Florence, Italy Video Transcript: It is lunchtime in Florence and we are back at Central Market (Mercato Centrale / Mercato di San Lorenzo). We were here yesterday to buy some produce and a few groceries to cook an Italian meal at home. And then we noticed that on the second floor they have a whole bunch of restaurants and deli shops so we figured let's come back and actually have lunch here. That is the plan for today. We've just arrived but we're going to have a little wander through to see what is available and then we'll start buying little bites. We've got to scout it out really well before we pick. We've got our first two items. That kind of startled you there. Yeah, I was admiring my cheese. We got a little cone of parmigiano. Parmesan. Parmigiano Reggiano. This was 3.50 in Euros. The best part is it comes in these massive cubes and you've got this little fork to pierce them with so look at the size of this. All of the cheeses, the meats, the pastas, the pizzas. Wow. The gelatos. It is like this is really good. Italy is making me chubby. And you know what is next. This little thing. This little thing. I believe this was called Burrata. And it looks like it this looks like focaccia bread or something. It has kind of been made into a sandwich. It is a sandwich. It has prosciutto. I'll kind of lift it up here so you can see. It appears I could be wrong but it appears to have a some salad. Some salad. Ensalada. I think there is some creamy cheese as well. It was 6 Euros. We found our next dish. This is called Trapizzino. And it looks amazing. Basically this is pizza dough in the form of a triangle and then it has been stuffed with filling. You can choose what filling you want. They have a whole bunch to choose from but we went with the eggplant and the tomato sauce a little bit of pesto and then parmesan cheese on top coming in at 4 Euros. Moving on to snack number four. So this is something we've seen a few times and we've wanted to try it. And we've never had it. It is basically a giant crispy rice ball (arancini). Inside there is different flavors. We got the one with prosciutto for 3 Euros. Alright we're moving on to dessert. What do you got in your hands? We got two desserts. We did. But let's start with this one. So this is the Cannoli at 3 Euros. And instead of being stuffed with a cream of ricotta it is actually gelato made with ricotta cheese and we got rum and raisin gelato called Malaga at 3.50 Euros. That brings our total to 23 Euros for two people. Basically 11.50 per person. We got to eat a lot of like amazing delicious food. I mean this far exceeded my expectations. This is part of our Travel in Italy video series showcasing Italian food, Italian culture and Italian cuisine. Music from YouTube Audio Library.
8 Tourists Attractions Humans Have Ruined Forever

12:58
Mother Nature has gifted humans with magnificent waterfalls, powerful rivers, crystal blue bays, and spectacular rock formations. Unfortunately, time isn't kind to many of these striking natural wonders. But that's not the worst part. In some cases, none other than people themselves cause destruction to these precious places. For example, have you ever heard about the Ténéré Tree? It was the only tree for 250 square miles in Niger's Sahara desert. It was an important landmark that helped caravans and travelers to find their way in endless sands. In the 1930s, this tree was even marked on the maps of military campaigners. But it doesn't exist anymore... Almost 17,222 square feet of the reef has been damaged by the incident. - "The Duckbill" was a pedestal-shaped rock formation that stood proudly above the Pacific Ocean at Cape Kiwanda State Natural Area. A group of teenagers destroyed this natural wonder in a matter of several seconds! - If you ever visit Goblin Valley State Park in Utah, you'll see gigantic mushroom-shaped rocks perched on much thinner sandstone formations. These wonder rocks seemed to be a miracle to everyone but two ex-Boy Scout leaders. - The Guairá Falls were a number of huge waterfalls located on the Paraná River. In 1982, the government of Brazil created the Itaipu Dam reservoir but meanwhile forever destroyed the Guairá Falls. - The Chacaltaya Glacier used to be a must-see for most tourists who came to Bolivia. However, if you visit this place nowadays, you'll see nothing more than mud and some lumps of ice. - Since Leonardo DiCaprio swam in its waters in 2000, Maya Bay has become Thailand's most-visited destination. The beach was visited by 200 boats and 5,000 tourists a day. You can probably imagine what damage this flow of people brought about to this place. - Situated 250 miles away from Lima, the geoglyphs of Nazca spread over a whopping 174 square miles. In February 2018, a man deliberately drove his truck across the site and damaged three straight-line geoglyphs. Italy/Siena (A Step back to Medieval Tuscany) Part 67/84

08:40
Welcome to my travelchannel. On my channel you can find almost 1000 films of more than 70 countries. See the playlist on my youtube channel.Enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/user/nurettinodunya/playlists Siena, A Step back to Medieval Tuscany Siena is likely Italy's loveliest medieval city, and a trip worth making even if you are in Tuscany for just a few days. Siena's heart is its central piazza known as Il Campo, known worldwide for the famous Palio run here, a horse race run around the piazza two times every summer. Movie audiences worldwide can see Siena and the Palio in the James Bond movie, Quantum of Solace. Siena is said to have been founded by Senius, son of Remus, one of the two legendary founders of Rome thus Siena's emblem is the she-wolf who suckled Remus and Romulus - you'll find many statues throughout the city. The city sits over three hills with its heart the huge piazza del Campo, where the Roman forum used to be. Rebuilt during the rule of the Council of Nine, a quasi-democratic group from 1287 to 1355, the nine sections of the fan-like brick pavement of the piazza represent the council and symbolizes the Madonna's cloak which shelters Siena. The Campo is dominated by the red Palazzo Pubblico and its tower, Torre del Mangia. Along with the Duomo of Siena, the Palazzo Pubblico was also built during the same period of rule by the Council of Nine. The civic palace, built between 1297 and 1310, still houses the city's municipal offices much like Palazzo Vecchio in Florence. Its internal courtyard has entrances to the Torre del Mangia and to the Civic Museum. If you feel energetic, a climb up the over 500 steps will reward you with a wonderful view of Siena and its surroundings. The Museum, on the other hand, offers some of the greatest of Sienese paintings. The Sala del Concistoro houses one of Domenico Beccafumi's best works, ceiling frescoes of allegories on the virtues of Siena's medieval government. But it is the Sala del Mappamondo and the Sale della Pace that hold the palaces's highlights: Simone Martini's huge Maestà and Equestrian Portrait of Guidoriccio da Fogliano and Ambrogio Lorenzetti's Allegories of Good and Bad Government, once considered the most important cycle of secular paintings of the Middle Ages. What to do in Siena & Sights to See: Siena is a lovely medieval town, with the Piazza del Campo as its heart. We've visited Siena many times, each time discovering different streets and sections of the historical center, trying out new places to eat at.What are the main things to see in Siena? The Piazza del Campo is at the very top of the list, but then you have many other choices as well! How about going into the Palazzo Pubblico, the red brick city hall that overlooks the Campo and visiting the Civic Museum? It holds a lot of treasures, including some of the most interesting, thought provoking frescoes on the role of government. How about climbing up the Torre del Mangia and looking down on all of Siena?Head to the Piazza del Duomo and buy yourself a pass to visit the inside of the cathedral, the baptistery, the Museum of the Opera del Duomo from where you can enjoy another view of Siena, and the crypt. Inside the cathedral enjoy the beautiful pavement stories and the Piccolomini Library. Enjoy the art of the Sienese masters? Head over to the Pinacoteca Nazionale di Siena, or the "picture gallery", for some more masterpieces by Duccio di Buoninsegna, Simone Martini and Pietro Lorenzetti, among others. Also check out the Santa Maria della Scala in front of the Duomo. This is one of the first examples of "hospital" (as in hospitality) in Europe that welcomed pilgrims making their way to Rome. Today it is a museum and hosts many temporary exhibitions being held in Siena. These are just some of the main sights, check out the articles below for more details and sights you should see while in Siena.

Artviva - experts in Italy travel, best Italy tours

03:04
We've been around since 1996 -- longer than any other tour company in Florence. In fact, we're the first Italy-based company to offer high-quality, small-group guided tours and events. With two directors at the helm with performing arts backgrounds, we know that a little drama needs to be injected into any experience -- it livens things up. And in a country with millennia of rich and complex history, this is certainly appreciated! We're also fully licensed, and we firmly adhere to the law (we pay our taxes), ensuring we're contributing to the sustainability of the beautiful historical sites we visit. Our multi-talented guides are well-informed and fun to be with. They manage to impart lots of interesting information without being boring. Our tour content is unique, and whilst we've often been imitated, we have never been duplicated. All of our staff and guides are either mother-tongue English or totally fluent speakers so you'll never have a problem understanding us. We pre-reserve our museum entries to avoid waiting in long lines for museums. Our countryside tours visit family-run, historical estates for authentic experiences. You will never be treated like herded cattle as we keep our groups small, and strongly believe in offering experiences for travellers rather than tourists. Booking with ArtViva on one of our 100-plus tours in Florence, Tuscany, the Cinque Terre, Venice, Rome and beyond, guarantees an entertaining learning experience. We can show you the marvellous insights of the historical cities in just a few hours on our city tours. We can take out into the Tuscan hillside, hiking, by bike or in the comfort of a minibus. In Rome, our city tour includes a great traditional activity -- concluding with sipping wine in a historical piazza! Our gondola tour in Venice traverses the whole Venice island on the longest gondola ride in town. We offer hands-on cooking classes and wine tastings too. We also provide tailor-made tours for families (including tours especially designed to engage the youngest of travellers). We have a great range of private tours and unique experiences, including in collaboration with friends of ours such as Maurizio Seracini (who's searching for the lost Leonardo da Vinci at Palazzo Vecchio), Count Niccolò Capponi and Prince Duccio Corsini. We can also tailor events upon request. We're proud to say that the bulk of our business is based on recommendations and word-of-mouth from our happy clients, hundreds of whom return to us regularly. We have been recommended by Rick Steves, raved about in more than 25 guide books and newspaper articles, and have almost 600 five-point reviews on TripAdvisor (who have also given us a Certificate of Excellence in 2011 and 2012). Our Uffizi tour was even made into a BBC World documentary with Monty Python star Michael Palin.

CAMPI FLEGREI - ITALY'S SUPERVOLCANO - Looking for Things to Do in Naples? Campi Flegrei is the ideal destination to the west of Naples, Italy. Campi Flegrei is a Supervolcano with a caldera approximately 7 miles across and 24 points at which magma could erupt. Campi Flegrei last erupted in the 1500s. Mount Agung in Bali is currently in the news due to a potential eruption, however an eruption at Campi Flegrei could be catastrophic, potentially wiping out half of Europe and lowering the global temperature by 4 degrees. This video covers a trip to Vulcano Solfatara, part of the Campi Flegrei volcanic region. The area appears to be off limits, but after some accidental trespassing on private property, I managed to get up close and personal! Blog Ville in Emilia Romagna, Italy

01:00
We are looking forward to this year's blogger's exploration of the region Emilia-Romagna in Italy. This year's base will be in Bologna, which lies pretty much in the center of Emilia-Romagna and also very central in the whole of Italy. A perfect base to explore the region and afterwards the rest of Italy! We, the Emilia-Romagna tourism board, Traveldudes.org and iambassador.net provide travel bloggers the base! We welcome you to stay with us and to live like a local! Bologna itself is a kind of a hidden gem, for travelers. Feel the typical Italian atmosphere, the reason why you have planned to visit Italy. But feel it with less tourists, like you would find plenty in other popular cities. Many travel bloggers were amazed after their stay last year and added Emilia-Romagna as their top spot in Italy. Find out more on Google+ and Twitter and search for #BlogVille or visit www.blogville-emiliaromagna.com where you will find all the articles, but also what's happening on the different social sites.

Touristing around the island city. Wanted to upload this earlier, but too busy traveling. The whole place is photogenic. Old, weathered architecture and materials. Original frescoes, hundreds of years old. Wish I could have gotten to Poveglia island. I needed another day or two, and probably bribe money to get there. A licensed water taxi will not go there. It was off limits while owned by the government. Now that Poveglia is sold to a developer, it could be even more of a challenge if they have security. So close, and yet........ so far.

Overall I touch on points of letting go of fear and embracing new cultures and experiences. I talk about the hardships, the ups, the downs, and what made it worth it overall. I think traveling is a very important experience to enrich one's life, and I think study abroad is a great way to help actualize those dreams into a reality, especially in a place like Europe. That being said, it was definitely not all easy and a great time, it was a very difficult period of time in my life, and it forced me to adapt and grow, which I am very thankful for. Make sure to follow my other socials and comment any questions down below! Much love y'all.

The Young, the Beautiful, the Trendy Italian woman, chic with affordable style.

07:26
We're living in a golden age of comfy and affordable dressing. When you see a new high fashion trend, Zara seems to be the next stop to get the runway style for less. Uniqlo, ZARA, H&M, Mango, Brandy Melville are the places Italians love to go to for low-priced basics like relaxed t-shirts, cardigans, boyfriend jeans, dresses and even accessories. These brands also keep up-to-date by providing trendier options like high-waisted pants, maxi dresses, chunky fall sweaters, tailored blazers and more... while the price point on any given item is rarely above $50. Italian young women are no longer interested in flashy Louis Vuitton handbags or Gucci sunglasses. They are happy buying inexpensive articles of clothing and personalizing their looks with accessories which help them transition their look from context to context, without doing a full outfit change. It can be frustrating to not be able to afford the fashion that they actually want to wear, but sometimes they feel like half of the fun is actually in the shopping itself. When they are wandering through the aisles of chain stores, they still manage to enjoy themselves. It IS possible to have style on a budget and look like a millions buck, 1:59. It simply requires a shift in your mindset. À Suivre How to refresh you fall wardrobe? Thing to do in Rome, Italy.

06:40
Rome is a huge city with several district articles containing sightseeing, restaurant, nightlife and accommodation listings — consider printing them all. Rome (Italian: Roma), the Eternal City, is the capital and largest city of Italy and of the Lazio (Latium) region. It's the famed city of the Roman Empire, the Seven Hills, La Dolce Vita (the sweet life), the Vatican City and Three Coins in the Fountain. Rome, as a millenium-long centre of power, culture (having been the cradle of one of the globe's greatest civilisations ever) and religion, has exerted a huge influence over the world in its circa 2800 years of existence. The historic centre of the city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. With wonderful palaces, millenium-old churches and basilicas, grand romantic ruins, opulent monuments, ornate statues and graceful fountains, Rome has an immensely rich historical heritage and cosmopolitan atmosphere, making it one of Europe's and the world's most visited, famous, influential and beautiful capitals. Today, Rome has a growing nightlife scene and is also seen as a shopping heaven, being regarded as one of the fashion capitals of the world (some of Italy's oldest jewellery and clothing establishments were founded in the city). With so many sights and things to do, Rome can truly be classified a "global city".

A towering cruise ship barrelled into a tourist river boat on a busy canal in Venice on Sunday morning and injured at least five people, it has been reported. The collision, which saw the MSC Opera cruise liner crash into a small tourist boat, happened about 8.30 am on the Giudecca Canal, a major thoroughfare that leads to Saint Mark's Square in the northeastern Italian city.  MSC Cruises said the 2,679-passengers onboard the 177-foot high and 902-foot long long liner which dwarfed the Venice skyline, were approaching a terminal on the Giudecca canal when the ship hit the dock and the River Countess after a technical problem. Dramatic footage from the scene shows the moment the cruise ship, apparently unable to halt its momentum and blaring its horns, ploughs into the much smaller river boat as dozens of terrified spectators flee the chaotic scene. Italian media report that 110 passengers were onboard the small river boat.  A towering cruise ship strikes a tourist river boat on a busy canal in Venice, injuring at least five people Images show the cruise ship ploughing into the much smaller river boat River Countess on Sunday Tourists run away in panic after the collision, which saw the MSC Opera cruise liner crash into a small tourist boat The cruise ship's owner, MSC Cruises, said the ship, the MSC Opera, was about to dock at a passenger terminal when it had a mechanical problem. The ship then appeared to lose control after a steel cable that tied it to a tugboat snapped.      Two towboats guiding the cruise ship into Venice tried to stop the massive cruise ship, but they were unable to prevent it from ramming into the small and powerless river boat.President of a towboat association in Venice, Davide Calderan, told the Italian news agency ANSA: 'The two towboats tried to stop the giant and then a tow cable broke, cut by the collision with the river boat.'Mr Calderan said the cruise ship's engine was locked when the captain called for help.
