Windows 10 How to select files and folders

10:08
Windows 10 How to select files and folders I love Windows 8.1! It has everything I need EXCEPT ONE THING: Start Menu! They say Microsoft generates a lovely operating system EVERY OTHER VERSION! And Windows 10 is going to be just that: the best Windows of all. And it is! If you follow me in this crash course you will see the reason: There is a new start menu here that has the best of the two worlds! It lists the application in two pages, one start menu pinned applications and the other, applications arranged in folders. This is what we had seen in Windows 7. Apps open as desktop applications! Those of you who used to hate apps now will use them more frequently. In Start menu you can have app view that has tiles that can be re-sized and they are live! You have features such as Task View (although not so impressive) that gives you the option of grouping your open applications. and a lot of other improvements are here. In this course I will show you: how to personalize your desktop and use task view to organize your open applications into groupings how to customize the new windows 10 star menu and of course the shortcut menu that opens with right clicking the start button how to work with file explorer and perform basic and advanced operation on files and folders how to manage users and groups on your system and implement security features to protect your files and folders how to share folders over network and set permissions on them how to change file attributes, encrypt or compress data or encrypt the whole drive how to backup and restore files and folders and check different versions of them and some miscelaneous topics Credit : http://www.udemy.com Related searches: Windows, Windows 10, Tutorial, Microsoft Windows (Operating System), Maker, File Explorer (Software), Basic, Desktop, Computer, Operating System, windows101622

Folders View Customization Options in Microsoft Windows 10 Tutorial

03:25
In this Microsoft Windows 10 Tutorial, you will learn to apply different folders viewing options for the folders having different contents. Like if your folder and sub-folders contain pictures then you can customize the folder template to Pictures and then Windows will automatically start showing you all the pictures in thumbnail view and you do not require to change the view for each folder. So, you can apply different templates for Videos, Music and Documents folders as well, which makes it really convenient to browse through folders without changing the icon view style again and again. A short tutorial I made for Windows 7 users, for those of you who don't know how to do this. Some files in Windows 7 are automatically hidden. You will be able to show, find, and view these hidden files and folders. Step 1: Click on "Start". Step 2: Go to "Control Panel". Step 3: Click on "Appearance and Personalization". Step 4: Go down to "Folder Options", and click on "Show hidden files and folders". Step 5: Find "Show hidden files, folders, and drives" in the list and check the circle next to it (this will uncheck "Don't show hidden files, folders, or drives"). Step 6: Find and uncheck "Hide protected operating system files" (this step is optional) and click "Yes" to the window that pops up. Step 7: Click "Apply" and "Ok". To undo this configuration, repeat steps 1 to 4 and then click on "Restore Default".

How to Open and Change Folder Options in Windows 8

01:37
Follow this step by step guide to learn how to open and change folder options in Windows 8. Don't forget to check out our site http://howtech.tv/ for more free how-to videos! http://youtube.com/ithowtovids - our feed http://www.facebook.com/howtechtv - join us on facebook https://plus.google.com/103440382717658277879 - our group in Google+ What makes windows 8 different from its previous versions is the fact that it is easier to modify options and it has a unique smart phone like user interface. In this tutorial, we are going to show you some basic tools and modification of the interface in windows 8. Follow this step by step guide to learn how to Open and change Folder Options in Windows 8. Step # 1 -- Go to My Computer First of all, move the cursor over and click on the "My Computer" icon which is located at the top left corner of the desktop. Step # 2 -- Open Folder Options Once you have double clicked on the icon, you will be redirected to "My Computer" in a new explorer window. Here, you can see three main tabs located on the top left corner of the screen. One of them is named as "View". Now move over to this tab and click on it to open its advanced options. After the menu comes up for the "View" tab, click on the "Options" button which is available at the end of the list towards the right. Step # 3 -- Adjust the General Settings Once you have clicked on the "Options" button, a settings window will appear right in front of your screen. This is the "Folder Options" window. This basic settings window allows you to add, remove, adjust and restore various options related to the display and to the attributes of windows explorer. In the "General" tab, you can choose whether you want to open each folder in the same window or open each folder in its own window. It also allows you to change the "Click" function from single to double click or vice versa. Here, you can also choose to expand the folders path or view "Favorites" in the navigation pane. The "Restore Defaults" button allows you to revert back all custom changes that you have made and apply windows 8 default settings. How to change folder icon of all folders in Windows 7

05:41
To change the folder icons of all the folders follow these steps... 1. To change the icon of any folder you need to have an icon file. If you already have the icon file then directly go to "step 3" or else to make an icon file of your desired image firstly download the image file in .jpg or .png format. 2. Now go to google and search "converticon". Head to converticon.com and click on get started. Select the image file that you have downloaded, open it and click on export. Now it's better to select all the boxes and uncheck the "original size" box so that you can have a proper icon for all view types.Click on save as and save the icon. 3. Now go to start and type "regedit". Alternatively you can press the "windows key + r" and type "regedit". 4. In the newly opened window go to the following address... "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer". 5. Under the "Explorer" folder look for a folder called "Shell Icons". If you already have the folder then go to the next step or else right click on the "Explorer" folder and select "New\Key" and name it "Shell Icons". 6. Select the folder "Shell Icons" and right click on the right side to create a new "String Value" and name it "3". Now right click on "3" and select "Modify". Under "Value Data" paste the address of your icon file. An easy way to do that is to go to your icon file and press "Shift + Right Click" on it and select "copy as path" and paste it under "Value Data". 7. Repeat step "6" again only this time name the new "String Value" as "4" instead of "3". ("String Value 3" is for closed folder icons and "String Value 4" is for open folder icons). 8. Restart your machine for the changes to take place. (If you do not see the changes after restart then go to "Folder Options" under "Appearance and Personalization" in "Control Panel" and then under "View" tab check the box "Always show icons, never thumbnails" and click on "Apply"). You will have a changed folder icon. Thanks for watching... Website for making icon from image file... http://converticon.com/
