The alignment of Starters, Movers, Flyers and Key for Schools and the impact on learning
Chapter 1: Introduction 0:00 Chapter 2: Exams overview 2:01 Chapter 3: Alignment overview 4:58 Chapter 4: Starting point baseline 11:32 Chapter 5: Balancing support and challenges 19:55 Chapter 6: Rewarding learners 25:08 Chapter 7: Summary 30:18 Chapter 8: Q & A 31:40 In this webinar we will discuss the results of research studies into the comparability of Flyers with Key for Schools and the alignment of the Young Learners tests to the CEFR. These studies have allowed us to clearly demonstrate how Young Learners exams straddle pre A1 to A2 levels with a strong performance at Movers indicating level A1 and a strong performance at Flyers indicating level A2. We are also able to define the relationship between Flyers and Key for Schools with more precision. Because the Young Learners exams do not precisely map onto one CEFR level, expected outcomes in the classroom should be re-defined as a range of performances should be expected and managed.
