Australian ETF Selection (Vanguard)

06:49
Today I’m talking about Australian ETF Selection with a focus on Vanguard ETFs. I’ve only recently started investing in ETFs – actually, I only started earlier this year – and I think that ultimately ETFs will be the main part of my portfolio. So what’s an ETF? An ETF is an Exchange Traded Fund, that is, it’s an investment fund that is traded on a securities exchange market like the Australian ASX. They’re typically a diversified portfolio of securities that track a particular asset or index (although, there are actively managed ETFs as well that try to outperform the given market or index). So for example, VTS – Vanguard U.S. Total Market Shares Index ETF seeks to track the performance of the CRSP US Total Market Index, providing investors with exposure to a broadly diversified collection of securities that, in the aggregate, approximates the full index in terms of key characteristics. As we can see here, VTS is made up of 3638 holdings where the top 10 represent 17.2% of the total ETF. Companies like Apple, Microsoft, Alphabet, Amazon, and Facebook. So in this video, I’m going to specifically talk about which ETFs I chose and the reasons behind those decisions. First of all, I decided to buy only Vanguard ETFs. Vanguard is one of the big players and typically has low fees and a solid performance history for their index funds. I believe they were the first ones to come up with the whole idea of indexing. You can take a look for yourself at the full list of Vanguard ETFs. They include ETFs for fixed interest, property, Australian shares, international shares, and their own diversified ETFs which are made up of various proportions of the previous four categories. MY FINAL ETF PORTFOLIO 25% VAS, 25% VGS and VGAD, and 25% VAE. That covers Australia, North America, Europe and Asia. I’m planning to stick with this allocation for at least the next few years. With ETFs, you really have to. Even though they’re tradeable on the stock exchange, you’ve got to treat them like a long term investment. So if their value goes down in the short term, don’t sell them – you’d only be locking in a loss. How To Rebuild Search Index In Windows 10 - Increase Search Speed

03:04
Rebuild Windows Search Index to Increase Performance. Indexing the files on your computer enables Windows to perform very fast searches in the locations where the files have been indexed. If you are encountering problems with searching–unexpectedly slow searches, not finding things that should be indexed, or searches actually crashing–your best bet is to completely rebuild the search index. The search index can take a while to rebuild, but it’s usually worth it. Before you rebuild the index, though, it may be worth taking the time to trim down your index locations to just what you need to make the indexing process faster. This tutorial will apply for computers, laptops, desktops, and tablets running the Windows 10 operating system (Home, Professional, Enterprise, Education) from all supported hardware manufactures, like Dell, HP, Acer, Asus, Toshiba,Lenovo, and Samsung.

Indexing Is the Backbone of the ETF Industry

04:18
ETFs were made from passive indexing, but as investors demand more from their investments, the indexing landscape is beginning to change. "We're basically the Intel inside of your PC. You think of us as the portfolio manager that are underneath and managing that portfolio," Ken O'Keefe, Global Head of ETFs at FTSE Russell, said at the Charles Schwab IMPACT 2018 conference. Index providers had it relatively easy at the beginning stages of industry growth as they only need to provide market cap-weighted indexing methodologies that more-or-less tracked broad, widely observed benchmarks. However, as the industry grows and matures, there is more that goes into the back-end of the ETF production. "Now, it's much more. We sit down with ETF provider. They're looking for something that is going to better meet the needs for financial advisors, and they're turning to us for help in designing that," O'Keefe said. Why I AVOID Index Funds & ETFs (Dividend Investing With Individual Stocks)

10:48
I personally avoid index funds and ETFs (exchange traded funds). As a dividend growth investor with the goal of driving passive income (via dividend checks), these investment vehicles do not meet my needs. Today's video compares and contrasts individual dividend stocks with index funds (and ETFs). I discuss the pros and cons of each. In particular, I cover the following: * What are your investment goals? Mine involve massive amounts of cash flow that cover my living expenses so I can visit beautiful places like Hawaii more often. * Do you want to average? That's what will happen with an index fund (by definition). I don't want to be average and that's why I personally invest in individual stocks. * Individual stocks offer control, stability, the opportunity for superior results, more risk (although mitigated somewhat via diversification), lower fees, and a bit more work. * Exchange traded funds and index funds offer less control, the ability to track an index, less risk, higher fees, and less work. * Learn where index funds and ETFs may make sense. Especially retirement accounts that only offer actively managed mutual funds as the alternative. And, charities where there is a fiduciary responsibility. * Learn why I don't like index funds. I just can't see them working for anyone who wants to make a living off of dividends. * Also, I cover three key points: (1) Individual stocks allow one to optimize for dividends. (2) Individual stocks allow one to buy value (buy what's "on sale"). (3) Index funds include lower quality stocks, and lift such stocks to unfair valuations. Warren Buffett's Best Investment Advice: Buy Index Funds

23:55
http://www.LifeStyleTrading101.com Warren Buffett is perhaps the most successful and celebrated investor of the 20th century and his results have only been getting better as he ages. ★☆★ VIEW THE BLOG POST: ★☆★ http://www.lifestyletrading101.com/warren-buffetts-best-investment-advice-buy-index-funds/ =========================== Of course, that’s largely due to his ability to pick stocks that outperform the market. But during his lifetime, the stock market has actually gone up quite a bit, despite the dot com and financial crisis. Anyone who bought and hold would be doing quite well as well. You don’t necessarily need to pick the best stock winners. Simply getting exposed to the overall market in a diversified manner would have given you solid returns over time. In fact, that’s exactly what Warren Buffett recommends and is doing himself. On page 20 of The 2013 Berkshire Hathaway Annual Report to Shareholders (PDF), he talks about how he is allocating 90% of his estate for his heirs to be invested in the S&P500 index fund – and that’s what he recommends to the average investor. ====================== What This Means For You Warren Buffett’s favorite investing strategy can be essentially boiled to a few key takeaways: 1) Buy a low-cost index fund – either through ETFs such as SPY or VOO — or directly with Vanguard. 2) Buy in pieces over a period of time (dollar-cost-averaging) 3) Hold. In his annual report, Buffett specifically recommends the Vanguard S&P500 Index Fund. ★☆★ Part 2: Executing Buffett's Advice ★☆★ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=STMg_6qpV4Y ★☆★ Subscribe on Youtube ★☆★ http://www.youtube.com/lifestyletrading101x Instagram ►http://www.instagram.com/lifestyletrading101

Why I Hate TSX ETF and Index Funds

07:59
A Canadian stock market ETF or index fund that replicates the TSX is too risky and not diversified enough. There are too many banks and energy stocks in this investment type. The S&P 500 offers a better balanced approach to indexing.

CRUSHING The S&P 500 Index With Dividend Growth Stocks (Dividend Stocks Vs. Index Funds)

18:42
I continue to receive questions about dividend growth stocks versus index funds (especially the S&P 500 index fund). Questions are pouring in asking why I personally invest in dividend stocks for cash flow, when supposedly most investors cannot beat the average, the S&P 500 index. Today, I want to share some personal examples from my portfolio on how I am completely crushing the S&P 500. In fact, my capital appreciation alone has surpassed the S&P 500. When I factor in dividends as well, I'm completely crushing it. This may come as a surprise to some subscribers because my financial modeling is quite conservative. Whenever I produce a video about dividend investing, I tend to forecast future results at a compounded rate of 7%. Why is that? I'm a conservative forecaster and modeler by nature. I'd rather set myself up for an upside surprise than face a downside one. (And, this is completely different than what most others do in the space. Many people out there are aggressive at modeling their future returns.) Since the S&P 500 has historically driven 10% returns per year (dating back to 1928), I model at 7% to adjust for inflation and uncertainty. That being said, my results in reality have far surpassed my forecasts. Nonetheless, I still forecast conservatively because the market is at all time highs and I don't want to set myself up for any surprises. I like to model conservatively, while dreaming big! To illustrate this point, I share four real world examples from my personal portfolio. I share my personal stock portfolio returns as compared to the S&P 500 during the same time period. You will quickly see why I have fallen in love with dividend growth investing. Not only is it the ideal vehicle for someone like myself approaching financial freedom, but it's also a strategy that can beat the benchmarks (sometimes handsomely). I'm not trying to discount the value of index funds and the S&P 500. I think there are some really key use cases for such mutual funds, especially in retirement accounts that do not offer the ability to buy individual stocks. Everyone will find a unique investing strategy that works for them, and I respect all strategies. I am trying to provide a counter example today because I am forging a unique path. And, the media is so filled with press about index funds, but rarely focuses on the unspoken power of dividend growth investing. The highlight of today's video: Learn about one stock where I'm personally yielding 16.5% on cost each year. That's right: I'm beating the historical S&P 500 returns of 10% per year on my dividend income alone (and that doesn't even count capital appreciation). What is an ETF? | Vanguard adviser and client education centre

Exchange traded funds, or ETFS, are attracting increasing attention from investors, with a growing range of products available. So it’s no wonder that ETFs have become the talk of Australian watercoolers and BBQs. Traditionally, ETFs have used an indexing approach where the ETF is made up of holdings in different companies that when combined together replicate an index like the ASX 300 or the S&P 500. Like a traditional index managed fund, an ETF’s return should closely match the benchmark it tracks. But unlike a traditional managed fund ETFs are traded daily on the stock exchange. So these types of ETF combine the benefits of index funds – diversification, low fees, and low portfolio turnover – with the benefits of individual shares traded on an exchange – continuous pricing and trading flexibility. As the ETF market has evolved, investors now have access to a wider variety of ETF products across the risk spectrum—from diversified and factor-based ETFs through to more leveraged ETFs that may offer the potential for higher returns, but with a higher risk. You can buy and sell ETFs on the stock exchange through a full-service advisory broker or an online broker. Like shares, you can trade ETFs through market orders and limit orders. With a market order, the investor places an order in the market to buy or sell ETFs at the best available price. With a limit order, the investor places an order in the market to buy a quantity of an ETF at or below a specified price, or to sell it at or above a specified price. Benefits of ETFs: ETFs are typically low cost—they generally cost less than actively managed funds, and substantially less than buying individual shares. Index ETFs are diversified—they can provide you with broad exposure to entire markets within an index, including securities you may not be able to access on the ASX such as international equities. ETFs can be tax efficient—indexing’s low turnover minimises capital gains. And ETFs are generally liquid—you can buy and sell ETF units easily and quickly on the exchange. ETFs are transparent—prices are updated continuously throughout the day to reflect price changes in the underlying securities. It’s important to be aware that ETF prices can fluctuate within a wide range just like the overall share market, so before investing in one you should consider your goals and tolerance for market ups and downs, and select an ETF that’s right for you.
