Creating A Marketing Plan - 10 Questions You Need To Ask!

Having a well thought out marketing plan is essential for success. Your business relies on it! So let’s break down 10 questions you need to ask yourself in order to get the most out of your marketing plan. Question #1 - What want or need does your product or service fill? Understand the pain point of your customers is key to building a good marketing plan. The more you know, the better your message. Question #2 - What is your target market? Who, What, When, Where, Why? Age, gender, interests, lifestyle, etc. Knowing these things are vital to a strong marketing plan. Where do they spend their time online? How do they currently find or become aware of companies that fill the want or need are trying to fill? Question #3 - Who are your competitors? Try them! What makes you different? Why choose you? If you don’t have direct competitors, what are other solutions out there that try to fill the wants/needs of your customers? What makes you the best option? Question #4 - What are the goals of your marketing plan? How many sales or leads do you want (or need) to get from it? What is your target Cost Per Acquisition (CPA)? What is your starting budget and what percent of sales do you plan to invest back into marketing as you grow? When do you expect to achieve those metrics? Reverse engineer your goals and build realistic projections that ramp into achieving them because remember - marketing does not work overnight. Question #5 - What is your strategy for search and social? What keywords do you want to rank for and run ads for on Google? What keywords do you want to rank high for on maps? What social channels do you want to build a presence on, what kind of content do you want to post and what kind of ads do you want to run. Spend some time here and it will save you time in the future! Question #6 - What is your strategy to build a strong online reputation across multiple review sites? (Pro tip - set up a free review profile at www.TopRatedLocal.com ) Question #7 - What is your sales process once you generate a lead or sale? What collateral, emails, videos do you need to create to assist your sales team? Once a potential customer is in your sales funnel don't let them go without a fight. Question #8 - How do you build automated marketing to nurture your leads and customers? Retargeting ads, Email automation and more. Question #9 - What content does your website need to have? What landing pages do you need? What marketing funnels do you need to build? Your website is a living breathing organism so don't be surprised if this list of content grows over time. Question #10 - Who is in charge of managing your marketing and held accountable to the plan, optimizing the campaigns, meeting goals/objectives, etc? How often will you review the results and make adjustments? If no one is accountable, nothing will get done. Once that’s all thought through, write out your plan! Design all your ad campaigns: write your ads, design your ads, create videos, emails, landing pages, etc.. -- create all your funnels! Stay highly targeted. Kickoff all your campaigns! ECONOMIC CRISIS: companies shift MARKETING strategies, target POVERTY-STRICKEN Europeans Record high unemployment in the EU has forced some of the larger consumer goods companies to shift marketing strategies. They target poverty-stricken Europeans' demand for cheaper goods in the midst of an economic crisis. Unilever -- the third-largest consumer goods company in the world, which manufactures hundreds of brands like Aviance, Ben & Jerry's, Dove and Lipton -- will be doing just that. Jan Zijderveld, head of Unilever's European division, said in an interview with Financial Times Deutschland that "poverty is returning to Europe." He speculates that sales can be increased by providing smaller and cheaper branded products. With changing economic conditions, shopping habits change as well: "If a consumer in Spain only spends €17 when they go shopping, then I'm not going to be able to sell them washing powder for half of their budget," Zijderveld said. Unilever has already begun altering its branding to adapt to the challenge of low growth in the developed world. In Spain, it introduced Surf detergent in packages for only five washes; in Greece, it is marketing mashed potatoes in smaller packages for a lower price. It has also created lower-cost brands for products like tea and olive oil. The company previously implemented low-cost branding strategies in developing countries such as Indonesia, where it sells individual packets of shampoo for a few cents each. But Zijderveld says that they have forgotten similar types of selling options in Europe because they were not used in the years prior to the economic crisis. Univeler's quarterly results last month bemoaned "sluggish growth" and "fragile consumer confidence" in developed countries. Zijderveld believes that lower-cost brands must be matched with Apple-like service in order to increase profits. "In an Apple store, everyone thinks: Wow, what an experience. ... Why can't we sell food like Apple sells devices? Why are there no genius consultants for chicken?" Record unemployment since adoption of Euro Univeler's move to adapt strategies for underdeveloped countries to EU markets is grounded in Europe's grim new reality. Unemployment is on the rise in the EU as consumer purchasing power declines -- the Eurozone's unemployment rate hit a record high this summer. The EU's ministry for statistics, Eurostat, reported that 17.8 million people were out of work in the Eurozone in June: The highest level since the Euro was adopted as the EU's currency in 1999. And according to new French Labor Ministry figures released on Monday, more than three million people were unemployed in the country in July, the highest levels in more than 13 years. Spain's unemployment rate reached a record high of nearly 25 percent in the second quarter of 2012. Greece's trails close behind, with a 23 percent unemployment rate reported in May. This data "bodes ill for consumer spending and growth prospects," chief European economist at IHS Global Insight Howard Archer told CBC. A downward trend in consumer spending has been observed since the middle of 2011, VisaEurope reported. Underlining this economic misery is an ongoing program of budget cuts and austerity, which EU nations are adopting in an attempt to pay down their debts. Eurozone citizens have witnessed cuts in salaries, healthcare systems, state financial support and public spending, which has led to an overall decrease in their discretionary income. The cuts are proving deeply unpopular all over the EU, leading to mass protests, violence and strikes. The more unpopular austerity measures in Greece included a new property tax and the suspension of 30,000 civil servants on partial pay. In Spain, thousands of people regularly protest in the streets against austerity, with young people encamping in tent cities and general strikes being held against planned budget cuts. In this session, Neil will show the audience everything he does on his own sites, analytics, driving traffic, a bunch more. So, let's get that screen sharing up. Give us just a few seconds. Let's first get started in my analytics. I think it's already loaded. So, audience overview. You guys can see my traffic stats. There's not really much to hide. So last seven days, I was at 214,000 unique visitors. That's not too shabby, considering I don't do paid advertising. There was like, two jumps. So this is August. Let's look at August of last year, 2016. Keep in mind, I was also doing paid ads then. I was at 454. Now I'm at 200-something thousand in seven days, right? You guys see the difference? Like, you know, this is August 2016. This is, I don't know, we can do a whole month like July. So, 454. I look at users, 'cause users is unique. So 454 to 695. So my traffic is still growing, and here's one strategy that I did. It's hard to see when I look at these months, but if you look at last year, so we can pick any day. Like, we can pick October 2016, and let's go into some of my blog posts. The site content, all pages. So you see this? 13 secrets that'll boost your Facebook organic reach. This post has 13,404 visits. So we would take these keywords. I would sort 'em by impressions and click the rate. So, I can see which keywords have the highest impression count. Like, Facebook marketing strategy gets a ton of impressions for being on the eighth page. 80 position, 80.8, is usually eighth or ninth page, right, however you wanna look at it. So when I would look at all of this, I would sort by impressions, and then I would take all of these keywords, and I would integrate 'em within my blog post. So, let's go to my post. And this post is now changed. It's not 13. Facebook organic reach, search post. My editor is in there; Grant is currently editing. Okay, you see it's now called 20 Secrets That'll Boost Your Facebook Organic Reach, versus the old one of 13 secrets. In other words, what I did is I took this post and I made it super detailed, and I added in all the keywords. It works really well each and every single time. So, the page is loading, and I'll show you other examples that I did this way. Right, like, as you can see, and then I create a table with the list, where you can just click, and you can go down to the section, right, and I'm integrating the keywords within the content. The page is super long. If you look at how many keywords now, this post has 9,858 keywords, or technically words. Some of 'em are a keyword rank, some of 'em aren't, and that's how I rank better, is by modifying the articles and adding in all the keywords that do well, or that I'm at least getting impressions for. Then that way, I know what Google's already ranking me for. If I discuss those topics within my content, I'm much more likely to get ranking. And I do this for a lot of my content pieces. I go through Google Search Console. Every single week, we go and we figure out, all right, what are the most popular posts that we're ranking for, and we just continually rewrite those articles. That's what is helping increase our traffic and our rankings more than anything else. So, if I go month over month, keep in mind, August isn't over yet. So I go to like, April. I know we weren't doing it all the way back in April, and I go to today. August, of course, is gonna be lower than July, because August isn't over yet, but as you can see, it's pretty much growing, right? April, 15, then 12. June is when we rewrote the article, some time in June. July was our first full month, and like, look, it's just going up. July, already, July first through 31st, 22,000 visits. July first to August 23rd, 21,000 visits. That shows, so 21,498. 21,498 divided by, let's say 23rd, Clayton? That puts us on track or 28,000 visitors this month. That's not too shabby, right, all because we rewrite the post and just put in more keywords.

American Wind is an energy technology company that has turned the idea of a wind turbine on its head. Traditionally, to get more energy from wind you need to make your turbine bigger. American Wind's solution: much smaller turbines – called MicroCubes – but many more of them, arranged in two metre by three metre WindWalls, generating 100kw each. Because these solutions are more compact, it means they can be closer to the point of energy need, minimising energy lost during transmission.
