Learning Korean by Doing Language Exchange with HelloTalk - Review & Tips for Using HelloTalk

12:22
FULL DISCLOSURE: I have been meaning to make a video about HelloTalk for a long time now, but I wanted to do it right with screenshots showing how to do things. Coincidentally, someone from HelloTalk recently contacted me and said that they need more Korean learners, like yourself, and asked me to make a video about the app, so I did! This is not a sponsored video and I am not in affiliation with HelloTalk at all. I honestly just love the app so much that I wanted to help them out (they are still a small startup) and I want others to benefit from using it too! I also noticed from talking to a lot of people about the app that they have had some strange encounters with other "language learners." I have included some tips in the video for how to hide yourself from search and retain control over who you converse with. I also have some tips for how to get the exchange going and keep it going. If you are learning Korean, then this app will be of great help to you! There are a lot of Korean people anxious to learn English and help you learn Korean. Why We Struggle Learning Languages | Gabriel Wyner | TEDxNewBedford

16:28
The only barrier to learning a language is memory. - The process of language learning is the process of forming memories. Nothing more, nothing less. If you understand that, and you understand how memories are formed, then you can make progress in a way you've never dreamed possible before. Gabriel Wyner is an author, opera singer and polyglot based in Chicago. After reaching fluency in German in 14 weeks with the help of the immersive Middlebury Language Schools, he fell in love with the process of language learning, going on to spend two months in intensive Italian courses in Perugia, Italy. Searching for ways to bring the immersion experience into the home, he began to develop a system that rapidly builds fluency in short, daily sessions. In 2010, his efforts paid off. He learned French to fluency in 5 months, and then Russian in 10 months. Born in Los Angeles, he graduated summa cum laude in 2007 from the University of Southern California with dual degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Vocal Arts Performance, and was awarded the Renaissance Scholar’s prize for excellence in unrelated disciplines. He then moved to Vienna to pursue triple Master’s degrees at the Konservatorium Wien in Opera, Lieder and Voice, and graduated with honors in 2011. Currently learning Japanese, he's learned Hungarian and Spanish over the last few years. His book on language learning – Fluent Forever: How to learn any language fast and never forget it – was published on August 5, 2014 (Harmony/Random House). His most recent project has been the development of a new language learning tool, which became the most successful Kickstarter for an app in history in September of 2017. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx

how to say very good in Arabic

00:14
how to learn Arabic Speak a little Arabic every day. The absolute best way to learn any new language is just to speak it. It doesn't matter if you only know five Arabic words or if you're practically fluent -- speaking Arabic with another person is the fastest, most effective method of improving. Don't wait until you "feel more comfortable" speaking in Arabic -- you probably won't reach that level for a long time, so push yourself outside of your comfort zone and start speaking Arabic today. You' ll be amazed at how quickly your language skills improve. Find a native Arabic speaker who is willing to spend some time speaking Arabic with you -- you may be able to offer them a language exchange, where they spend 30 minutes speaking Arabic with you and you spend 30 minutes speaking your native language with them. If you live in an Arabic-speaking country, you can practice by starting simple conversations with the people you meet, whether it's saying "hello" to a shopkeeper or asking a stranger for directions. Expand your vocabulary and use idiomatic phrases. The wider your vocabulary and the more Arabic phrases you learn, the easier speaking Arabic will become. Again, spending time with native Arabic speakers will help you to pick up on common vocabulary and phrases in a natural way. Although reading, watching Arabic TV and listening to the news is also beneficial. Once you have learned a new word or phrase, you should make an effort to use it in a sentence -- this is the best way to commit it to memory. Another easy way to commit new words to memory is to make labels for everyday household items and stick them around your house or apartment. Then every time you use the kettle or look in the mirror, you will see the Arabic word for these items staring back at you. You should also start a notebook of idiomatic phrases that Arabic speakers use all the time. Sprinkling these kinds of phrases into your conversation will bring your level of Arabic up several notches. Carry a dictionary. Carrying an Arabic dictionary with you at all times (whether it's an actual book or a phone app) can be very useful. Having a dictionary means that you will never be stuck for a word. It can save you a lot of embarrassment if you're having a conversation with an Arabic-speaker and forget a word in the middle of the sentence -- all you have to do is take a second to look it up! Aside from saving you awkwardness, looking up the word you need then immediately using it in a sentence will actually help you to commit the this new vocabulary to memory. It is also helpful to have a dictionary to peruse throughout the day, during private moments, like when you're sitting on the train, waiting to cross the street or just having a cup of coffee. You could learn an extra 20 to 30 Arabic words per day using this technique! As a beginner, you should should start with an Arabic dictionary that provides definitions in your native language. However, once your language skills improve, you should switch to using an Arabic-Arabic dictionary, which provides Arabic definitions for Arabic words.

how to say thank you very much in Arabic

how to learn Arabic Speak a little Arabic every day.

02:43
Language Exchange Ireland organises and facilitates language exchanges. Our mission is to help people learn and improve their Spanish, French, Portuguese, German, Italian, Chinese and English language skills. Each language exchange starts at 6.30pm on Mondays in Dtwo on Harcourt Street, Dublin 2. Set up like 'speed dating', you are assigned a table number on arrival, opposite a native speaker of the language you are learning. You will speak English for 5 minutes and then the other language for 5 minutes and then move on to the next table. It is a great way to improve your language in an organised and easy going manner. It is also great for networking and meeting new people. The cost is €5 to participate which includes free food. Each week there are specials offers at the bar. The exchange caters for all levels, whether you have just started or are fluent you can benefit.
