Psychiatric Drugs are Neurotoxins. Why and How to Avoid Taking Them? by Peter R. Breggin , M.D.
Psychiatric Drugs are Neurotoxins. Why and How to Avoid Taking Them? by Peter R. Breggin , M.D. Peter R. Breggin MD is a Harvard-trained psychiatrist and former Consultant at NIMH who has been called “The Conscience of Psychiatry” for his many decades of successful efforts to reform the mental health field. His work provides the foundation for modern criticism of psychiatric diagnoses and drugs, and leads the way in promoting more caring and effective therapies. His research and educational projects have brought about major changes in the FDA-approved Full Prescribing Information or labels for dozens of antipsychotic and antidepressant drugs. He continues to education the public and professions about the tragic psychiatric drugging of America’s children. Dr. Breggin has taught at many universities and has a private practice of psychiatry in Ithaca, New York. Dr. Breggin has authored dozens of scientific articles and more than twenty books, including medical books and the bestsellers Toxic Psychiatry and Talking Back to Prozac. Two more recent books are Medication Madness: The Role of Psychiatric Drugs in Cases of Violence, Suicide and Crime and Psychiatric Drug Withdrawal: A Guide for Prescribers, Therapists, Patients and their Families. His most recent book is Guilt, Shame and Anxiety: Understanding and Overcoming Negative Emotions. As a medical-legal expert, Dr. Breggin has unprecedented and unique knowledge about how the pharmaceutical industry too often commits fraud in researching and marketing psychiatric drugs. He has testified many times in malpractice, product liability and criminal cases, often in relation to adverse drug effects and more occasionally electroshock and psychosurgery. A list of his trial testimony since 1985 is contained in the last section of his Resume. Should Doctors Prescribe Nature Instead Of Drugs?
Scientists have found that just being around nature can benefit our health in major ways. What exactly does nature do to our bodies? Most but not all studies have reported that access to green space in urban areas is associated with improved overall well-being, including benefits related to both physical and mental health." Learn How These 12 Plants Can Benefit Your Health Better Than Drugs
It’s easy to underestimate the power of plants to heal your body’s toughest ailments. Often, we go straight to over-the-counter medicines to treat our headaches, inflammation, and other syndromes. Many of us have been conditioned to depend on prescription drugs all of our lives. If you aren’t yet, it’s time to familiarize yourself with nature’s medicine: healing herbs. For countless years, people from various cultures have relied on medicinal plants from mother earth as a means to soothe and repair the mind, body, and spirit. The use of healing herbs dates back to 3000 BC. The all-natural properties formulated in healing herbs are proof that you don’t have to depend on drugs to treat specific ailments. Natural herbs have the power to calm everything from your anxiety to your toughest skin problems. In fact, a 2015 study proved that the use of herbal medicine is as high as 21% in people with anxiety disorders, and according to a 2001 study conducted by Harvard Medical School, more than half of people surveyed with panic attacks or severe depression turned to alternative therapy, including herbs, to help them. Herbal medicine can help with a variety of health-related issues. For example, a popular herb known as Ashwagandha has a history of helping with memory deficiencies, neurodegenerative diseases like Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s and improving energy levels. For example, such herb as dandelion has numerous benefits for your health. Some research indicates that dandelion may have antimicrobial and antiviral properties, which could support your body’s ability to fight infection. Several test-tube studies found that dandelion extract significantly reduced the ability of viruses to replicate. Research also indicates that some of the active compounds in dandelion protect against various harmful bacteria. Ultimately, more research is needed to draw definitive conclusions about dandelion’s ability to fight viral and bacterial infection in humans. Another powerful plant, calendula, may enhance the wound healing process. While the exact way it does so is still unknown, it’s believed that the herb increases the flow of blood to the wound site, thereby providing the oxygen and nutrients essential to tissue regeneration. Additionally, this herb, with its high amount of flavonoids, can help reduce inflammation, speeding up the stages of healing. These flavonoids also fight off bacteria, viruses and other harmful foreign invaders, protecting against wound infection. Another use for calendula is that it can be a soothing ointment, wash or tincture, as it can help provide cooling relief on irritated wounds and reduce inflammation and swelling. These days, if you want information, it’s right at your fingertips. In some ways this has been a very good thing. But it’s also given rise to a platform for any insane idea, and for anyone who is trying to make a buck. With all this information so easily accessible, it’s made many of us feel like we’re experts after a little Googling. It doesn’t matter if we have little real familiarity with a subject. This has helped give rise to an industry of hucksters who decry mainstream medicine, touting instead their alternative cures that they will happily supply to you — for the right price. Unfortunately, these con routines have caused a lot of people to distrust mainstream medicine. This distrust has spawned all manner of bizarre conspiracy theories. →Subscribe for new videos every day! https://www.youtube.com/user/toptenznet?sub_confirmation=1 → → GET A T-SHIRT - http://shop.spreadshirt.com/toptenz →Top 10 Objects That Were Clearly Invented Just to Annoy Physics: https://youtu.be/0MVGeRa-vLo →Simon's VLOG: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCvqt8j7DfPmveJp3UOk9XTg Entertaining and educational top 10 lists from TopTenzNet! The Rise of Fentanyl: Drug Addiction On The I-95 – Two Years On
Drug overdose is now the main cause of death for Americans under the age of 50, they are more likely to die from a drug overdose than a car accident or gun. More than 70,000 people died from overdoses last year as opioids and illegal fentanyl – which is up to 50 times stronger than heroin – unleashed the worst public health crisis in American history. Two years ago, BBC News reported on the growing problem of opioid addiction in the US, now we return to find out what happened to the people we met along our journey down the notorious I-95, the interstate that runs from Florida to Maine, and to see what has become of their struggle against addiction. Shocking Before-And-After Drug Use Photos
Top 10 most disturbing transformation photos of people that were addicted to narcotics. Subscribe to our channel: http://goo.gl/9CwQhg Other Videos You Might Like 10 Horrible Plastic Surgery Impersonations https://youtu.be/dumsWFVTc-k 10 Women You Won't Believe Exist! https://youtu.be/c5SKuiMrEHw Description: It’s hard to think of any drug prevention strategy more effective than simply being exposed to a real drug addict. Witnessing the degradation and deterioration of a drug abuser whose addiction has taken its toll offers a first-hand perspective on just how powerless certain people are against the potent sway of heavy drugs, not to mention the toll that they take on the body. In 2014, drug treatment assistance website Rehabs.com put together a graphic, stunning compilation of photos that captured the physical regression of chronic drug abusers through their head shots. This rather pointed effort, which gathered the mug shots of those arrested multiple times for drug- and/or drug-related offenses, served to highlight the potentially catastrophic health effects of drug abuse in a raw, visceral and impactful manner. Physical changes seen through these images include skin lesions, decayed or missing teeth, open sores and premature aging, among other noticeable symptoms. It is important to note that not all of the deterioration and facial change seen within these people is necessarily the cause of drug use, but illicit substances have surely assumed at least some responsibility for the visible toll taken on these 10 individuals. The Rehabs.com webpage aimed to serve as a source of education and inspiration, not only for those who came upon it but also for the addicts featured on the site. Lest anyone feel that the images are being used to shame, embarrass or exploit those in need of help, the website includes a disclaimer that not only invites users to request the removal of their photo, but also offers financial assistance for those seeking treatment. It also acknowledges that the images shown represent only the most extreme cases of drug abuse, but makes sure to mention that those featured in the images likely never anticipated such a slippery slope towards extreme addiction. The statistics on drug abuse are pretty stunning. In 2013, over 24 million people reported that they had taken illicit drugs or abused prescription medication in just the past month alone. One year earlier, more than 1.7 million people had been admitted into treatment programs for substance abuse. While certainly representing a staggering number, that doesn’t address the vast majority of drug users in need of help. And although statistics can be impactful in their own right, the personal cost of drug abuse is probably best represented in the faces of those most affected by it. Different drugs carry their own common side effects. Meth is known to cause facial wasting and open sores, cocaine can be an appetite suppressant and lead to weight loss, ecstasy often causes teeth grinding and even marijuana can age and pale the skin over time with excessive use. But even more than the symptoms of any one drug, the most damaging impact of substance abuse might be the mental side of the addiction, where recreating that high becomes a driving force in the addict’s life and leads to self-neglect. These 10 addicts wear the heavy cost of their drug abuse on their faces, plain for anyone to see. However, blood pressure drugs can and should be used if your blood pressure is dangerously high. Unfortunately, as I’m sure you already know, blood pressure drugs cause lots of negative side-effects, such as Depression and anxiety. Impotence Fatigue Kidney and liver failure Anemia Colon problems Negative changes in your blood sugar levels Skin problems and hair loss 4 different types of blood pressure drugs and natural alternatives to them. 1. ACE (angiotensin-converting enzyme) Inhibitors These suppress a powerful enzyme that causes arterial walls to constrict and cause high blood pressure. This keeps arterial walls relaxed, reducing blood pressure and decreasing the work that the heart has to do. Natural alternatives are French Maritime Bark Extract and one of my favorites, Celery Seed Extract at 300 mgs daily, which has multiple clinical studies backing it up.1,2 2. Beta Blockers These work by blocking the beta limb of the autonomic nervous system (ANS), which is responsible for raising alertness, heart rate, and blood pressure in flight-or-fight situations. Beta blockers blunt this physiological response to stress, reducing high blood pressure. There are two, natural solutions that are clinically proven to lower blood pressure and work similarly to beta blockers. The first is an amino acid called L-Arginine. A more potent version being Arginine Alpha Keto-Glutarate (AAKG). The second is an amazing herb called English Hawthorn Berry Extract, which has over half a dozen human clinical studies proving blood pressure lowering results at 900 mgs daily.3-10 3. Calcium-Channel Blockers Similar to beta blockers, they improve blood flow and vascular tone through narrowed vessels. Some calcium-channel blockers reduce blood pressure by encouraging smooth-muscle relaxation in the inner lining of your blood vessels—preventing spasms and helping them dilate. One of the most important vitamins you should be taking daily, is Magnesium. One of its benefits is that it works as a calcium-channel blocker. However, there are lots of different forms of magnesium and each has its various benefits, depending on your health goals. When it comes to lowering blood pressure, a patented blend of Magnesium Glycinate Chelate, Albion® Di-Magnesium Malate, Magnesium Citrate and Magnesium Oxide which is highly absorbable and has been clinically shown to lower blood pressure.10-13 4. Diuretics These drugs reduce edema and water retention in your body and lungs, by increasing urine output and the end results is lower blood pressure. You need to eliminate or reduce regular table salt and use natural salts such as Himalayan and Celtic. ======================================== Thank you for watching. Do "Smart Drugs" Work?
What if you could unlock your brain’s potential with just a pill? It sounds like something out of Limitless, but there’s a whole culture around nootropics, or “smart drugs”. But do any of them work? Are any nootropics supported by scientific evidence? I decided to try five highly popular nootropics and did the research to see if they’re real. **FYI, we did not receive any compensation from any of the companies shown in this video. Industrys Influence in Medicine: Duped, Doped and Dying in America by Gwen Olsen
Expert Panel Host: Gwen Olsen (A podcast version of this video is available on iTunes.) • On December 2, 2004, Gwen Olsen's niece Megan committed suicide by setting herself on fire-and ended her tortured life as a victim of the adverse effects of prescription drugs. Gwen Olsen offers an honest glimpse into alarming statistics and a health care system ranked last among nineteen industrialized nations worldwide. As a former sales representative in the pharmaceutical industry for several years, Olsen learned first hand how an unprecedented number of lethal drugs are unleashed in the United States market, but her most heartrending education into the dangers of antidepressants would come as a victim and ultimately, as a survivor. Gwen Olsen shares one woman's unforgettable journey of faith, forgiveness, and healing. “Gwen Olsen spent fifteen years as a pharmaceutical sales rep working for such healthcare giants as Johnson & Johnson, Bristol-Myers Squibb, and Abbott Laboratories. She enjoyed a successful, fast-paced career until several conscious-altering experiences began awakening her to the dangers lurking in every American medicine cabinet. Her most poignant lessons, however, came as both victim and survivor of life-threatening adverse drug reactions. Gwen Olsen is the author of the award-winning book, Confessions of an Rx Drug Pusher. She is also a contributing author to three books, Drugging Our Children by Dr. Sharna Olfman et al, Doctor of the Futureby Dan Yachter, D.C., and the Maximized Living Makeover Manualby Dr. Ben Lerner et al. Gwen has also published health-related articles in the Well Being Journal, Natural News, and the Health News Digest. Gwen is a passionate mental health activist, writer, and dynamic speaker who devotes much of her time to mental health and child advocacy. Gwen volunteered as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for the Travis County court system from 1995 to 2000, serving as an advocate for abused and neglected foster children in Texas. A 2007 Human Rights Award recipient, she is sought after internationally as a speaker and media resource, and has testified numerous times before Congress and the FDA. A fifteen-year-veteran pharmaceutical rep from 1985 – 2000, Gwen worked for McNeil Pharmaceutical, Syntex Laboratories, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Abbott Labs and Forest Laboratories. She was a hospital rep and specialist rep for the majority of her career, educating residents in hospital teaching settings and selling prescription drugs to doctors in obstetrics and gynecology, orthopedics, cardiology, neurology, endocrinology and psychiatry. She has a unique industry insider’s perspective of the current U.S. healthcare dilemma, and utilizes both her experience and the insight she received in her extensive sales training with Pharma to illuminate marketing trends and illustrate how current greed and conflicts of interest make the system itself the biggest health risk to American consumers.”
Taking the Die out of Diet - with Kim A. Williams
The convergence of evidence suggests that an affordable plant-based diet can help prevent and even reverse some of the top killer diseases in the Western world, and can be even more effective than medication and surgery. This could save Medicare billions of dollars, but medical training continues to underemphasize nutrition education , in part, perhaps, because lifestyle interventions go against the prevailing conventional wisdom. The USDA, in formulating its dietary guidelines, has been accused of both acting with bias and ignoring relevant research. However, the most recent guidelines take a step in the right direction by recommending a shift to a plant-based diet, which Kaiser Permanente, the largest U.S. managed care organization, has moved in the direction of supporting. Lifestyle medicine attempts to find, prevent, and treat the causes of disease. Patients should receive fully informed consent for treatment, meaning they should be informed about all of their options including dietary changes. Doctors report they don’t practice preventative cardiology because they fear their patients won’t change their diet. Kim Allan Williams, MD, MACC, FAHA, MASNC, FESC was born in Chicago, and attended the College of The University of Chicago (1971 to 1975), followed by the University of Chicago’s Pritzker School of Medicine (1975 to 1979), internal medicine residency at Emory University (1979 to 1982), and overlapping fellowships in Cardiology at the University of Chicago (1982 to 1985), Clinical Pharmacology (1984 to 1985), and Nuclear Medicine (1984 to 1986). In this video I talk about Christine Blasey Ford's Stanford research into hypnotherapy & the exploration of ego-dystonic states as they relate to Mind Control of the masses. Opioid Drugs, Part 2: Addiction and Overdose
Opioid drugs are a well-known class of drug due to both their ability to kill pain and kill people. Watch part 2 of this two-part series to learn how opioid drugs can cause addiction and overdose, as well as a bit of the history behind the opioid epidemic in North America. Watch Part 1 here: https://youtu.be/s60KzN4GJdQ *Two great articles about the opioid crisis:* The Promotion and Marketing of OxyContin: Commercial Triumph, Public Health Tragedy (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2622774/) The Prescription Opioid and Heroin Crisis: A Public Health Approach to an Epidemic of Addiction (https://www.annualreviews.org/doi/full/10.1146/annurev-publhealth-031914-122957) *Mechanism of cAMP* Two key functions of cAMP have been discovered in neurons. The first is the activation of ion channels to let positive charge into cells, called a “pacemaker current”, which depolarizes the neuron to activate it. Increased cAMP makes it easier for ion channels to open. Without cAMP, it is harder for these channels to open, resulting in less positive charge entering the neuron to depolarize and activate it. The second function of cAMP in neurons is to increase neurotransmitter release. Certain neurotransmitters are released via a protein kinase A dependent pathway, which is initiated by cAMP. Without cAMP, these neurotransmitters are not released. These two functions combined point to cAMP acting as a neuron activator, and thus when opioids decrease cAMP levels, neuron function is also inhibited. *Methadone and Buprenorphine Mechanisms* Methadone (Dolophine) is a long-acting opioid receptor activator that does not cause as much euphoria as morphine. Patients with opioid use disorder patients can enroll in a “methadone maintenance” program, in which they receive a dose of methadone every day. This prevents withdrawal symptoms and unsafe activities obtaining and administrating illicit drugs, helping patients get their lives back on track. Its ability to activate NMDA receptors may also be a reason why this drug is effective at eliminating addiction, tolerance, and withdrawal, but the true mechanisms are still being investigated. Buprenorphine is a partial agonist of the opioid receptor. This means at low doses it can activate the receptor, but at high doses it inhibits the receptor. Thus, the risk of overdose is limited with buprenorphine and thus can also be used to wean patients off of opioids, albeit slower than methadone. References: Kosten TR, George TP. 2002. Scientists develop painless and inexpensive Microneedle System to monitor drugs
Researchers at the University of British Columbia and PSI in Switzerland have created a microneedle drug monitoring system that could one day replace costly, invasive blood draws and improve patient comfort. The new system consists of a small, thin patch that is pressed against a patient's arm during medical treatment and measures drugs in their bloodstream painlessly without drawing any blood. The tiny needle-like projection, less than half a milimetre long, resembles a hollow cone and doesn't pierce the skin like a standard hypodermic needle. Many groups are researching microneedle technology for painless vaccines and drug delivery. Using them to painlessly monitor drugs is a newer idea. Microneedles are designed to puncture the outer layer of skin, which acts as a protective shield, but not the next layers of epidermis and the dermis, which house nerves, blood vessels and active immune cells. The microneedle was developed to monitor the antibiotic vancomycin, which is used to treat serious infections and is administered through an intravenous line. Patients taking the antibiotic undergo three to four blood draws per day and need to be closely monitored because vancomycin can cause life-threatening toxic side effects. The researchers discovered that they could use the fluid found just below the outer layer of skin, instead of blood, to monitor levels of vancomycin in the bloodstream. The microneedle collects just a tiny bit of this fluid, less than a millionth of a millilitre, and a reaction occurs on the inside of the microneedle that researchers can detect using an optical sensor. This technique allows researchers to quickly and easily determine the concentration of vancomycin. 🌾 WARNING: The Real TRUTH About Red Yeast Rice, Statin Drugs and Lowering Your Cholesterol

Does it work, is it safe, and does it have the same side-effects of statin “cholesterol lowering” drugs?... One reason for all the questions and concerns is because Consumer Reports came out with a list of the 15 Supplement Ingredients to Always Avoid and Red Yeast Rice was one of the 15 ingredients on the list. And this is a very important topic because if the right form and amount of Red Yeast Rice is used, it’s an amazingly effective and safe ingredient. The Consumer Reports feedback about Red Yeast Rice… Unfortunately, the information is vague, wrong and inaccurate. They stated risks as: “Kidney and muscle problems, liver problems, hair loss; can magnify effect of cholesterol-lowering statin drugs, increasing the risk of side effects” However, what they HAVE done is inaccurately listed “statin” drug side-effects!… Statin Drugs Are The REAL Problem One of the most prescribed drugs in the world for almost 2 decades, are cholesterol lowering statin drugs. Doctors used to (and still do) say how these drugs are “so amazing and healthy” for you. And the minute anyone had even slightly elevated cholesterol levels, doctors were quick to prescribe these powerful (and harmful) drugs. However, in the past few years the truth has come out… The fact that statin drugs are very toxic and have numerous side-effects — such as memory loss, muscle pain, liver damage, diabetes, high blood pressure, impotence and more. Red Yeast Rice & Statins Red Yeast Rice (a regular diet staple in Asia) naturally contains low levels of monacolin K, which is chemically similar to the active ingredient in the cholesterol-lowering statin drug Lovastatin. And because of this, Consumer Reports automatically and incorrectly ASSUMES that Red Yeast Rice is the “same” as statin drugs and thus, will have the same negative side-effects of statin drugs. Not only is this wrong, but it’s illegal in the US because… FDA Won’t Allow This In 2008, the FDA determined that red yeast rice products that contain more than trace amounts of monacolin K are considered as an “unapproved new drug” and cannot be sold legally as dietary supplements. And this was done primarily because the pharmaceutical companies didn’t want a natural ingredient to compete with their harmful drugs. Red yeast rice can’t cause any statin side-effects, if it doesn’t contain any “statin” in it. However, Red yeast rice still has numerous health and cholesterol-lowering benefits that is NOT related to monacolin K or lovastatin, and without any negative side-effects.2,5 So Consumer Reports was all wrong about Red Yeast Rice’s negative side-effects. Problem 1: Citrinin Some red yeast rice products contain a contaminant called citrinin, which can cause kidney failure in high dosages.4 So when purchasing any product containing Red Yeast Rice, make sure the citrinin is removed. Problem 2: Don’t Use It By Itself You never want to use Red Yeast Rice by itself because you’d have to use a very high dosage of it for it to work and be effective. The best products use red yeast rice, in conjunction with other key ingredients, at specific dosages to help create healthy cholesterol levels, HDL/LDL ratios and triglycerides. Other key ingredients you should look for when purchasing a cholesterol-lowering product, which also work in synergy with red yeast rice are: Policosanol Co-Q10 Pantesin® d-Pantethine Garlic Extract Artichoke Leaf Extract Guggulsterones Phytosterols Complex Cleanse & Strengthen Your Liver This is exactly the problem my parents had in 1998 and that’s why they now use an “all-in-one” remedy called CholesLo™. ======================================== Thank you for watching.
