The Attachment Theory - How Childhood Trauma Affects Your Life

07:36
The attachment theory argues that a strong emotional and physical bond to one primary caregiver in our first years of life, is critical to our development. If our bonding is strong and we are securely attached, then we feel safe to explore the world. If our bond is weak, we feel insecurely attached. We are afraid to leave or explore a rather scary-looking world. Because we are not sure if we can return. Often we then don't understand our own feelings. Special thanks for our patroeon supporters: Ville Medeiros, Chutimon Nuangnit, Cedric Wang, Mike, Eva Marie Koblin, Julien Dumesnil, Mathis and the others. You are wonderful !!! For those who feel like they can’t help themselves, or can’t find trust through their partners of family, we recommend looking for professional support through a therapy. If you are able to form a secure attachment to a therapist, he can become the one who provides you with that secure base. Here three of possible therapies: 1. Psychoanalysis. The aim of psychoanalysis therapy is to release repressed emotions and experiences, i.e., make the unconscious conscious. In order to do that they therapist might try to bring back some childhood memories, to work at the root cause of the problem. 2. Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT). CBT is a psycho-social intervention that is widely used for improving mental health. Instead of trying to bring you back in time, it aims to explain you whats going on inside your brain and how to cope with irrational feelings or fears. 3. The Hoffmann Process. This 7-8 days guided process, designed by the American psychologist Hoffmann, brings participants back into their childhood to reconnect with their parents at the time when attachment is formed. Its very intensive. 10 Soccer Players Who Put Their Country To SHAME

12:27
10 football athletes who were a disgrace to the country they were representing at the FIFA World Cup. (Luis Suarez, Mario Balotelli, Diego Maradona) Subscribe for more amazing videos! ► http://bit.ly/Subscribe-to-Richest ◄ The World Cup is arguably the best sporting tournament on Earth. This is because soccer is the world’s most popular sport, and the tournament allows for competition between diverse players from the far reaches of the globe. Of course, when players from different countries—and sometimes feuding countries—get together, there’s bound to be conflict. Thus, the World Cup has been the stage for a lot of interplayer controversy, which has put the players’ represented countries to shame. These have been both on-field and off-field incidents, and the incidents aren’t just limited to the World Cup. But adding more ammo to the arsenal of conflict, which the World Cup does, increases the odds of controversy. FIFA is a beautiful organization, and while it does much more good than harm, its players run the gamut of personalities and cultures, which makes for some pretty entertaining disputes. What are the differences between Catholics and Protestants?

08:10
There are at least four major differences between Catholics and Christians / Catholics and Protestants. When asked, what do Catholics believe, many would say it is the same as protestants, but that is simply not the case. What Catholics believe about salvation, and life after death are very different from what a Protestant believes, among other Catholic beliefs, including the Catholic Sacraments. In this video, Pastor Nelson with Bible Munch points out four major differences between Catholics and Christians. *** Curious about Bible Munch? How to Stop, Drop and Roll When Managing Conflict

02:17
It may seem like you're on fire when a veterinary client or staff member speaks to you about what you did wrong with their animal, says Debra Vey Voda-Hamilton, Esq, principal at Hamilton Law & Mediation. When this happens, she says all you need to remember is stop, drop and roll. Stop talking and listen: Your angry client or staff member can't hear you anyway. Drop the need to be right: Your ego can sometimes get in the way when conflict arises. And then let it roll off your back: Nine times out of 10 the client will come back and apologize for how angry they were with you to begin with. We’ve talked a lot in this series about how often you see data and statistics in the news and on social media - which is ALL THE TIME! But how do you know who and what you can trust? Today, we’re going to talk about how we, as consumers, can spot flawed studies, sensationalized articles, and just plain poor reporting. And this isn’t to say that all science articles you read on facebook or in magazines are wrong, but that it's valuable to read those catchy headlines with some skepticism. Crash Course is on Patreon! Rules of war (in a nutshell)

04:44
Yes, even wars have laws. To find out more, visit http://therulesofwar.org ******** Rules of War in a Nutshell - script Since the beginning, humans have resorted to violence as a way to settle disagreements. Yet through the ages, people from around the world have tried to limit the brutality of war. It was this humanitarian spirit that led to the First Geneva Convention of 1864,and to the birth of modern International Humanitarian Law. Setting the basic limits on how wars can be fought, these universal laws of war protect those not fighting, as well as those no longer able to. To do this, a distinction must always be made between who or what may be attacked, and who or what must be spared and protected. - CIVILIANS - Most importantly, civilians can never be targeted. To do so is a war crime. “When they drove into our village, they shouted that they were going to kill everyone. I was so scared, I ran to hide in the bush. I heard my mother screaming. I thought I would never see her again.” Every possible care must be taken to avoid harming civilians or destroying things essential for their survival. They have a right to receive the help they need. - DETAINEES - “The conditions prisoners lived in never used to bother me. People like him were the reason my brother was dead. He was the enemy and was nothing to me. But then I realized that behind bars, he was out of action and no longer a threat to me or my family.” The laws of war prohibit torture and other ill-treatment of detainees, whatever their past. They must be given food and water and allowed to communicate with loved ones. This preserves their dignity and keeps them alive. - SICK & WOUNDED - Medical workers save lives, sometimes in the most dangerous conditions. “Several fighters from both sides had been critically wounded in a fierce battle and we were taking them to the closest hospital. At a checkpoint, a soldier threatened us, demanding that we only treat his men. Time was running out and I was afraid they were all going to die.” Medical workers must always be allowed to do their job and the Red Cross or Red Crescent must not be attacked. The sick or wounded have a right to be cared for, regardless of whose side they are on. - LIMITS TO WARFARE - Advances in weapons technology has meant that the rules of war have also had to adapt. Because some weapons and methods of warfare don't distinguish between fighters and civilians, limits on their use have been agreed. In the future, wars may be fought with fully autonomous robots. But will such robots ever have the ability to distinguish between a military target and someone who must never be attacked? No matter how sophisticated weapons become it is essential that they are in line with the rules of war. International Humanitarian Law is all about making choices that preserve a minimum of human dignity in times of war, and makes sure that living together again is possible once the last bullet has been shot.

Constitution of India Course: https://learn.finology.in/courses/legal/the-constitution-of-india---part-1 In today`s Video let us talk about the Centre-State Relations. India is a federal country - which means that there has to be a division of power between Centre and State. Also, remember that the Federal structure of the Government is one of the essential features of the Indian Constitution. In the Indian Constitution, this division of power between the Centre and State is provided under Part XI and Part XII. This division of power is divided into 3 heads: Legislative Relation between Union and State Article 245-255 Administrative Relation between the union and State Article 256-263 Financial Relations between Union and State - 264-293 In this video, we will discuss the first part of the Centre-State Relations i.e., Legislative Relations from Article 245-255 of the Indian Constitution. Legislative Relations is further classified into 2 aspects:- 1. Territorial Jurisdiction - which is dealt with mainly under Article 245. The article describes the Law making the power of the Parliament and of the State Legislature. It also speaks about the extra-Territorial Jurisdiction of the laws made by the Parliament. 2. Subject Matter Jurisdiction - In this, we will see the 7th Schedule of the Constitution. The 7th schedule has divided the powers of the Centre and the State into 3 lists: Union List or List I of the Constitution State List or List II of the Constitution Concurrent List or List III of the Constitution I have also discussed the Doctrine of Pith and Substance with the help of 2 important cases i.e., Prafulla Kumar v. How to Edit a Wikipedia Article

03:03
Watch more How to Use Internet Search & Web Browsers videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/317521-How-to-Edit-a-Wikipedia-Article Eager to add your expertise to an article on Wikipedia, the free, online encyclopedia that's one of the world's most visited websites? Follow these helpful hints to edit your first article. Step 1: Consider opening an account If you're not already a registered Wikipedia user, consider becoming one. If you edit a piece without registering, the site will record your IP address publicly in the article's edit history. With an account, you can also start new pages and upload images. To register, click "create account" at the top right of any page. Step 2: Edit text To get started, click on the "edit this page" tab at the top of the page. This will bring you to a new page with a text box containing the editable text of the original page. Just start typing! Get help at any time by clicking the link "Help" in the toolbox on the left of any page. Tip If you don't see an "edit this page" tab at the top, it means the page is protected from editing, probably because of a high incidence of malicious changes. Step 3: Open only what you need If you're making just a small change in one part of the article, look for the "edit" link on the right side of each section, and click on the one next to the passage you want to revise. This allows you to make changes in one section without opening the whole article. Tip Use the tool bar above the way you would with any word processing program. Don't worry about strange punctuation marks that might appear; this is just Wikipedia formatting your copy. Step 4: Source your work If you're adding new information, be sure to provide reliable sources that verify your work, or it will likely be deleted. Detailed instructions on the proper way to cite sources can be found by typing WP:CITE into the search box and hitting "Go." Tip Material in books and newspapers generally is considered reliable; the musings of bloggers are not. And don't bother writing about yourself; it's considered a conflict of interest. Step 5: Explain your edit Briefly explain your changes in the "Edit summary" box at the bottom. Your explanation can run up to 200 characters. Step 6: Review your changes Review your changes by hitting the "Show preview" tab at the bottom. If you want to compare your changes to the text you altered, hit the "Show changes" button. Once you're satisfied with your work, hit the "Save page" button. Step 7: Check it out Check out your contribution, which will appear instantly. But be aware that if there are any inaccuracies in your text, someone will soon be editing you. Wikipedia saves all versions, and anyone can view them. Tip If you have an account, click the "watch" tab to track changes made to the article. On the "My watchlist" page, click "diff," to see exactly what has been changed Step 8: Look for your work Keep an eye on the featured content on Wikipedia's front page; the article -- with your improvements -- may show up there someday! Did You Know? Seventy-five percent of Wikipedia edits are made by two percent of users.

We are here to change that. The objective scientific evidence does not prove our universe is blind and purposeless. It does not show we are simply meat machines. It does not prove that evolutionary mechanisms can completely account for the diversity of life on earth. This is what THEY want you to think. Think for yourself and make an informed decision. Flatlining – Dealing with Conflict in Relationships, with Michael Mamas

05:11
Follow Michael Mamas: * Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/michaelmamascrs * Twitter: https://twitter.com/michaelmamas * Google+: https://plus.google.com/+MichaelMamas/ In this video, Michael Mamas discusses flatlining – dealing with conflict in relationships. You know, everybody has issues. Their issues will come up against you. They will push your buttons. You’re going to take punches. Period. It’s Kali Yuga. Everybody has issues. I think it helps to understand that everybody sees everybody else’s issues. On some level, you sense them. It’s not like we are all oblivious to so-and-so’s issues and they are pushing your buttons because you see their issues and nobody else does. Everybody sees everybody else’s issues. So the question is, how can you be great? You can be great by navigating those waters wisely. You take a punch, but you don’t get all caught up in it. You don’t let their issues trigger your issues, and then the war goes on. What does that look like? We’re human, so we have our emotions. So our buttons do get pushed. This is important: It’s not about trying to attain a level where your buttons don’t get pushed. Your buttons will get pushed. You will get triggered by other people’s issues. They will ruffle your feathers. That’s not the question. The question is, what do you do about it? How do you deal with it? Do you sit there and hold a grudge? Do you put a person in a box where you judge them and get everyone around you to collude with you and agree with you that this person is bad because…? And now we all can judge that person? Or do you just say, “Do you know what? Everybody has issues. That’s their issues and isn’t it nice that we can all identify so well that person’s issues.” Just move forward. I think we get into trouble when we think we’re the only one who sees this person’s issues, or maybe our little group is the only one that sees this person’s issues. These other people don’t see it. Know that on some level, to some degree, everybody sees everybody else’s issues. In the ashram days, there was a man who was sneaking into the Ayurvedic clinic at night to do treatments on himself. That’s not really fair because it was in the ashram and everybody was paying for the clinic and this guy was sneaking in and getting free treatments. When it came up, I really respected one guy’s response: He shook his head and said, “Well, he needs it.” I thought it was a good attitude. Why get caught up in it? Yeah, we’ll remedy it, we’ll deal with it. But don’t get all stirred up with it. I wrote a blog just this morning on flatlining. It’s like flatlining. If your buttons get pushed, you don’t just buckle, you don’t get all tangled up, you don’t flatline. Instead, you say, “Oh, they pushed my buttons,” and here comes a wave through my physiology, but I’m not going to let it spin my kite. I’m going to keep the tail on the kite, keep my stability, and yeah they pushed my buttons, but I’m still fine. Once you flatline, you’re a mess. If you find people who will flatline with you, that’s called collusion. It doesn’t get you anywhere. Here me when I say if you can do what I just said, if you can work with that and function in that way, you’re great. You’re a great person. It’s really that ridiculously simple. Don’t turn this around and judge yourself. Keep in mind, yes your buttons will get pushed. That’s fine. But what do you do with it? How do you handle it? How do you deal with it? That little thing there about how you deal with it is what will make you great. You will gain the respect of people. As I’ve said in the past, where your power comes from is the respect other people have for you. If you can do what I just said, people will respect you tremendously. You will become a powerful person, a powerful force in nature. It’s just that simple. He’s identified as an "incel" since late high school, and, for three years, has moderated an incel chatroom tied to the 4chan board /r9k/. Britain Should Not Have Fought in the First World War

01:40:01
Want to join the debate? Check out the Intelligence Squared website to hear about future live events and podcasts: http://www.intelligencesquared.com __________________________ http://www.intelligencesquared.com/events/britain-first-world-war/ Filmed at the Royal Geographical Society on 15th April 2014. The First World War is not called the Great War for nothing. It was the single most decisive event in modern history, as well as one of the bloodiest: by the time the war ended, some nine million soldiers had been killed. It was also a historical full stop, marking the definitive end of the Victorian era and the advent of a new age of uncertainty. By 1918, the old order had fallen: the Bolsheviks had seized power in Russia; the German, Austro-Hungarian and Ottoman empires had been destroyed; and even the victorious Allied powers had suffered devastating losses. It was supposed to be the war to end all wars. And yet barely two decades later, the world was again plunged into conflict. Little wonder then that historians still cannot agree whether Britain's engagement was worth it. For some, the war was a vitally important crusade against Prussian militarism. Had we stayed out, they argue, the result would have been an oppressive German-dominated Europe, leaving the British Empire isolated and doomed to decline. And by fighting to save Belgium, Britain stood up for principle: the right of a small nation to resist its overbearing neighbours. For others, the war was a catastrophic mistake, fought at a catastrophic human cost. It brought Communism to power in Russia, ripped up the map of Europe and left a festering sense of resentment that would fuel the rise of Nazism. We often forget that, even a few days before Britain entered the war, it seemed likely that we would stay out. H. H. Asquith's decision to intervene changed the course of history. But was it the right one?

"Civil conflict" redirects here. For the college football game, see Civil Conflict. A civil war, also known as an intrastate war in polemology,[1] is a war between organized groups within the same state or country. The aim of one side may be to take control of the country or a region, to achieve independence for a region or to change government policies.[2] The term is a calque of the Latin bellum civile which was used to refer to the various civil wars of the Roman Republic in the 1st century BC. A civil war is a high-intensity conflict, often involving regular armed forces, that is sustained, organized and large-scale. Civil wars may result in large numbers of casualties and the consumption of significant resources.[3] Most modern civil wars involve intervention by outside powers. According to Patrick M. Regan in his book Civil Wars and Foreign Powers (2000) about two thirds of the 138 intrastate conflicts between the end of World War II and 2000 saw international intervention, with the United States intervening in 35 of these conflicts.[4] Civil wars since the end of World War II have lasted on average just over four years, a dramatic rise from the one-and-a-half-year average of the 1900–1944 period. While the rate of emergence of new civil wars has been relatively steady since the mid-19th century, the increasing length of those wars has resulted in increasing numbers of wars ongoing at any one time. For example, there were no more than five civil wars underway simultaneously in the first half of the 20th century while there were over 20 concurrent civil wars close to the end of the Cold War. Since 1945, civil wars have resulted in the deaths of over 25 million people, as well as the forced displacement of millions more. Civil wars have further resulted in economic collapse; Somalia, Burma (Myanmar), Uganda and Angola are examples of nations that were considered to have had promising futures before being engulfed in civil wars.[5] Formal classification Causes Duration See also References Further reading External links Last edited 2 months ago by Rjensen RELATED ARTICLES Greed versus grievance Conflict trap Political violence Violence conducted with political goals Content is available under CC BY-SA 3.0 unless otherwise noted. How U.S. Involvement In Central America Led To a Border Crisis| AJ+

12:36
Thousands of Central American refugees and migrants have been coming to the Mexico-U.S. border for almost 40 years – and in spring of 2018, the Trump administration enacted a “zero-tolerance” policy that led to the arrest of any and all refugees and migrants attempting to cross the border into the United States. The most controversial aspect of the policy's enforcement was the forced separation of parents from their children. While much of the conversation has focused on Central Americans escaping violence, there hasn't been much on why there's so much violence in the region to begin with. The story? Almost 200 years of U.S. intervention. EDIT: We messed up on certain map animations, excluding the nation of Belize - it was unintentional. Thanks to everyone who highlighted this to us. China, Japan, another war?

03:24
The commies recently issued a map illustrating what they label as their "air defense identification zone." Many nations have such zones over their territories. The commies claim any incursion into this zone by aircraft must identify themselves to the commies or risk possible military action. The problem with this new map and pronouncement is the commies included into this zone territory belonging to Japan, the Senkaku Islands. The commies are aware this could result in a limited armed conflict between China and Japan. The commies in Beijing will ignite such a conflict at the point their regime is about to collapse due to an internal rot. Due to the real estate bubble in China, it is predicted there will be a collapse causing an uprising by the people against the corrupt thugs in Beijing. At that point to re-direct the hate aimed at the commies in Beijing to Japan, the commies will ignite an armed conflict with Japan. The commies are aware the Senkaku Islands are part of the security agreement between Japan and the USA. Meaningless to the commies when it comes to salvaging their failing regime. Armed conflict with Japan and the USA is preferable to the commies than an insurrection by the millions in China. Corruption, Cocaine and Murder in Trinidad

23:21
Subscribe to VICE News here: http://bit.ly/Subscribe-to-VICE-News Around midnight on May 3, Dana Seetahal, a prominent attorney and former senator in Trinidad and Tobago, had just left a casino in the capital of Port of Spain when her vehicle was stopped by another car blocking the road. A van pulled up alongside and let loose a burst of gunfire, killing her in a well orchestrated hit. Her murder was one of approximately 170 that have occurred in the Caribbean nation so far this year, putting it on course for one of the highest murder rates in the world. The country saw only 93 murders in 1999. Last year, there were 407. VICE News visited the slums of Port of Spain and spoke with police, activists, community leaders, and gangsters to understand the country's decade-plus spike in killings. Many of the murders are attributed to ruthless and politically connected street gangs who control territories that are sometimes no larger than a city block. The gangs fight over lucrative government contracts meant to provide social services and combat unemployment. But gang violence is merely a symptom of a bigger problem. Trinidad has become an important stop for drugs headed to West Africa and the United States. Many observers point to "the big fish" — the nameless political and business elites who are behind drug trafficking and the culture of endemic corruption and murder that come with it. They are accused of turning a country rich in oil and gas deposits into their own personal narco-state, fostering impunity through a web of bribes and murders. Unlike the profits from the energy industry, however, this phenomenon trickles all the way down to the street level. War or Ceasefire Between Gaza's Factions and Israel?

08:11
THE RUNDOWN | Egypt is reportedly close to brokering a ceasefire between Israel and Gaza, but Hamas and other factions are trying to up the stakes before a resolution and deal is reached. Are the two sides headed to war or a ceasefire? Our Mohammad Al-Kassim and Daniel Tsemach analyze. Story: An Egyptian security delegation entrusted with the daunting task of quelling soaring tensions between Israel and Gazan militant factions were preparing to hold talks with Israeli officials on Thursday hoping to strike an agreement on mutual restraint ahead of mass protests along the border over the weekend. Egyptian mediators entered the southern enclave on Wednesday and met with Hamas security chief Yihya Sinwar and other Palestinian officials after two consecutive nights of clashes between Israel and Gazan militants, sparked by a brazen rocket launch from Gaza that scored a direct hit on a home in central Israel. Gazan militant factions have threatened to continue rocket fire so long as Israeli strikes continued, but are also reportedly under pressure from Egypt to suspend activities related to the so-called 'Great March of Return' protests, which are due to climax over the weekend as they mark one year since their launch on March 30, 2018. Egypt has been tirelessly attempting to broker a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas to end the conflagration, while on the sideline of the talks Palestinian protesters continued to clash sporadically with Israeli forces in the southern Gaza Strip.  A report by Israel's Ynet news agency on Thursday said that the Egyptian interlocutors presented Gazan militant groups with a proposal offering a number of concessions from Israel in return for their curbing violence during this weekend's Great March of Return anniversary protests. Israel has demanded that Gazan militant groups halt the activities of so-called 'night confusion units' staging nighttime border riots, end riots at the Zikim beach in northern Gaza, and provide assurances that this weekend’s massive March of Return anniversary protest will be nonviolent. In return, the Ynet report said, Israel offered to increase the number of trucks carrying vital humanitarian supplies and other goods entering the Strip each day, to ease approvals for imports and exports, to support UN employment initiatives in the enclave, to improve electricity supply, and to expand the permitted fishing zone to 12 nautical miles off the Strip’s coast. Egyptian interlocutors held meetings with Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar and other officials until 2 a.m., Ynet reported, and the delegation was expected to return to Israel on Thursday with the Palestinian group's response. Planned protests scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday evening were cancelled in an apparent gesture of Gaza militant groups adherence to the Egyptian efforts, but rogue groups continued to launch sporadic attacks into Israeli territory in the form of explosive balloons and cross-border incursions.  A number of IEDs were apparently thrown at troops stationed across the security barrier, with residents of Israel's border communities reporting they could hear numerous and constant sounds of explosions.  The Israeli army, meanwhile, continued to amass troops and artillery along the border as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned that Israel was prepared to step up its response to continued violence. Netanyahu, who is in the midst of a hard-fought bid for re-election with less than two weeks ahead of Israel's April 9 vote, has come under fire by political rivals for not prioritizing Israel's defense and security -- with dealings with Hamas already a sore point in his campaign.  A report issued Wednesday counted over 2,000 violent incidents emerging from the Gaza Strip over the past year, including 1,233 rocket launches, 94 incidents involving improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and another 600 involving Molotov cocktails since the beginning of the weekly Great March of Return protests. The report also found that 152 acts of arson were committed against Israeli forces and that arson balloons and kites -- which carry Molotov cocktails and other incendiary objects across the border fence -- caused over $9.5 million in damage to Israeli farmland.  For more, see our ⬇ Website Articles: https://www.i24news.tv/en Live: https://video.i24news.tv/page/live?clip=5a94117623eec6000c557fec (Subscription) Replay: https://video.i24news.tv/page/5a97b81f23eec6000c55857d?utm_source=youtube.com&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=the_rundown&utm_content=en2 (Subscription) Social Media Calev: https://twitter.com/calev_i24 Nurit: https://twitter.com/NuritBen Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/i24newsEN/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/i24NEWS_EN Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/i24news/

The Battle Raging In Nigeria Over Control Of Oil | VICE on HBO

14:38
Nigeria may sit atop one of the largest oil reserves in the world, but the majority of the Nigerian people have seen little benefit from the multibillion-dollar industry. The government and global energy companies have been exploiting the resource for years, bringing poverty, pollution, and violence to the Niger Delta. And now the local militias fighting for oil control have made conditions even worse. Caught in the conflict are Nigerian citizens involved in the illegal oil market simply for survival. Oil theft is rampant, and the booming black market has transnational oil and gas consultants concerned about the effects on global oil markets. The government isn't too happy about it either. “All the oil that is sold around here, the government calls illegally refined products,” local oil businessman Don Wizaro told VICE News. And when the Nigerian military raids illegal oil operations, they slash containers, releasing oil into waterways, contaminating what the main source of fishing, agriculture, and drinking water. As the government continues its assault on illegal refineries and barges carrying stolen oil, local militias are retaliating. And one of the most notorious militias is the Niger Delta Avengers. They attack pipelines and infrastructure, significantly affecting both the environment and the economy. VICE correspondent Gianna Toboni heads to the heart of Nigeria's oil production to witness firsthand the fight over the control of oil in the Niger Delta. Iranian disrespect towards Prime Minister Shinzo Abe

03:14
Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe traveled to Iran. While there he met with the barbarian leaders of Iran in an attempt to defuse the tension between the USA and Iran. In appreciation for this attempt the Iranians torpedoed two vessels heading to Japan. Naturally the uncivilized barbarians deny any involvement. However it does not take a rocket scientists to know it was one of their client operatives in the region. Iran is the number one state sponsor of terrorism. Humans Are Ugly

03:46
Humans are ugly; both men and women are ugly. We can know that humans are ugly, all without asking the question: am I ugly? The reason why humans are ugly is because our value systems have clear contradictions within them. That is, evolutionary standards of beauty and higher-order standards of beauty conflict with one another, a conflict which leads can lead us to conclude humans are ugly. 🔴Related Articles: https://ideasinhat.com/2018/11/04/humans-are-ugly/ 🔴Website: https://www.Ideasinhat.com

Constitutional Compromises: Crash Course Government and Politics #5

08:57
In which Craig Benzine teaches you about the compromises met in ratifying the U.S. Constitution. The United State’s didn’t always have its current system of government. Actually, this is it’s second attempt. Craig will delve into the failures (and few successes) of the Articles of Confederation, tell you how delegates settled on a two-house system of representation, discuss the issues of slavery and population that have been imbedded into our constitution, and fire up the clone machine to discuss how federalists and anti-federalist opposition provided the U.S. a Bill of Rights. And who knows, maybe all this talk of compromise will even inspire Craig and eagle to find some middle ground. Globalization I - The Upside: Crash Course World History #41

11:51
In which John Green teaches you about globalization, a subject so epic, so, um, global, it requires two videos. In this video, John follows the surprisingly complex path of t-shirt as it criss-crosses the world before coming to rest on your doorstep, and eventually in your dresser. (Unless you're one of those people who never puts their laundry away and lives out of a laundry basket. If that's the case, shame on you.) Anyway, the story of the t-shirt and its manufacture in far-flung places like China, Guatemala, and India is a microcosm of what's going on in the global economy. Globalization is a bit of a mixed bag, and there have definitely been winners and losers along the way. In this episode John will talk about some of the benefits that have come along with it. Next week, he'll get into some of the less-positive side effects of globalization. Also, you should turn on the captions. New Approaches to Reporting Grave Violations of Children's Rights in Armed Conflict

01:48:01
https://www.sfcg.org/events/wncac-july-2014/ In 2005, the Security Council requested in Resolution 1612 that the UN Secretary-General to establish a monitoring and reporting mechanism (MRM),to provide timely and reliable information on six grave children's rights violations: Killing or maiming of children Recruitment or use of children by armed forces or armed groups Attacks on schools or hospitals Rape or other sexual violence against children Abduction of children Denial of humanitarian access to children In the countries concerned, this mechanism is  managed by country-based task forces co-led by UNICEF and the highest UN representative in the country, The Secretary-General lists in annual reports on children and armed conflict the names of armed forces or armed groups that commit grave violations against children and urges parties involved in implementing time-bound action plans to halt these. Eva Smets of Watchlist on Children and Armed Conflict (Watchlist) will present its recently released 'Resource Pack for Non-Governmental Organizations' on civil society engagement in the UN-led MRM.  Its aim is to provide NGOs with the tools to determine whether, and how, to monitor and report grave violations. The Resource Pack contains tools on planning and engaging in MRM reporting. It includes factsheets, guiding questions, checklists, matrixes, case studies, charts, and diagrams. Les Roberts will describe an innovative survey approach to producing estimates of the prevalence of grave violations against children in a conflict-affected population. He will discuss a surveys done in DR Congo's South Kivu Province in 2011 that found very high levels and 2013 repeat study that found dramatic reductions in grave violations.  Incident reporting during this same period had suggested an increase in violations during the same period.  This dichotomy reflects the tension between data collected to guide policy versus data collected for legal systems or to name and shame.  Data collected for legal purposes requires a high level of certainty and confirmation, while survey approach promises interviewees anonymity.  Les will compare the respective advantages and limitations of the two approaches for MRM reporting. Presenters: Eva Smets is the Executive Director of Watchlist on Children and Armed Conflict. Previously, Eva was based in Kinshasa (DR Congo) as Oxfam International's Policy and Advocacy Coordinator, and in Nairobi (Kenya) as Care International's Regional Advocacy Adviser. In these roles, she advised country programs on humanitarian advocacy issues encountered in the field, supported the development of organization-wide advocacy strategies and authored several articles, reports and related materials. Eva holds a master's degree in human rights and democratization from the University of Padova, Italy, and a degree in history from the University of Brussels in Belgium. Eva is Belgian and is based in New York. Les Roberts teaches in the Program on Forced Migration and Health at Columbia University.  His present research focuses on developing methods to document human rights violations, and on statistically representative surveillance methodologies. He holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering and did a post-doctorate fellowship in epidemiology at the Centers for Disease Control and afterwards worked for WHO in Rwanda during the 1994 Civil war and then for the International Rescue Committee. The Washington Network on Children and Armed Conflict (WNCAC) is an informal network initiated in July 2004 by Search for Common Ground and the Displaced Children and Orphans Fund of USAID with the broad aim of improving the protection of children affected by armed conflict. Topics addressed include such issues and areas of practice as child protection; education; psychosocial interventions in emergencies; child soldiers; separated children; humanitarian relief; post-conflict development; conflict resolution; and peace building. The Network for Youth in Transition is a free online evidence-based resource focused on youth and transition issues. It includes funding opportunities, evaluations, innovative youth programs, reports, videos, and members from over 100 countries.
