In this video I answer a question from one my readers who asked: "Hello Evan, I am Tomal Dass from India. I always love to read all your articles about business and entrepreneurial leadership. It always fills me with new energy. It helps me a lot to learn a lot from the experiences of well known businessmen arround the world. Recently I was working in a partnership in event management business, We were new in the market and we didn't have any capital to rotate in Business. We were working to start a music festival in Central India. I belong to the city named Indore. It is the business capital of India and I figured out that there is a great scope in this region for a musical festival as there is no competition in this sector. We tried to go for sponsorship for bigger companies who's products are related to youth, as musical festival is related to youth. We were unable to generate any fund out of that. I thought may be we were new to this market that is why companies were not sponsoring us. Then we went for local businessmen for sponsorships and this one also didn't worked. So finally I planned for doing something off the grid. I planned to take a loan of 20% money for the event and ask any bigger Business firm to give their names for the sponsorships for free so that other business firms would also sponsor us. Then I dropped that idea because i didn't know that it's ethically right or not and will it work or not. Please guide me with this if you can. I would learn more from your articles. Regards, Tomal"

How to Write a Venture Capital Proposal

09:29
Subscribing to my channel is greatly appreciated!! While banks are often hesitant to loan significant amounts of money to new companies, a venture capital firm typically is more willing to make a bet based on the future of your business and its long-term potential. With a venture capital deal, business owners sell equity in their business to the venture capital firm in exchange for operating cash. Venture capitalists make money by investing in companies they believe will be profitable in the future, providing a good return on their investment.1 The venture capital process can be lengthy and expensive, and an impressive venture capital proposal is crucial to your success. A strong venture capital proposal shows youve done your research and planning, and have business acumen, focus, and writing ability, as well as an in-depth understanding of your industry.2 ---------------------------------------------------- Image Attributions------------------------------------------------------- Image: Write-a-Venture-Capital-Proposal-Step-1-Version-2 | By:Wikivisual0 - Link:https://www.wikihow.com/images/a/af/Write-a-Venture-Capital-Proposal-Step-1-Version-2.jpg - licensed by Creative Commons - cc-by-sa-nc-3.0-self ---- https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/3.0/us/ -Last updated:10:55, 24 December 2016 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Image: Write-a-Venture-Capital-Proposal-Step-2-Version-2 | By:Wikivisual0 - Link:https://www.wikihow.com/images/f/f7/Write-a-Venture-Capital-Proposal-Step-2-Version-2.jpg - licensed by Creative Commons - cc-by-sa-nc-3.0-self ---- https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/3.0/us/ -Last updated:10:55, 24 December 2016 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Image: Write-a-Venture-Capital-Proposal-Step-3-Version-2 | By:Wikivisual0 - Link:https://www.wikihow.com/images/f/fc/Write-a-Venture-Capital-Proposal-Step-3-Version-2.jpg - licensed by Creative Commons - cc-by-sa-nc-3.0-self ---- https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/3.0/us/ -Last updated:10:56, 24 December 2016 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Image: Write-a-Venture-Capital-Proposal-Step-4-Version-2 | By:Wikivisual0 - Link:https://www.wikihow.com/images/b/b8/Write-a-Venture-Capital-Proposal-Step-4-Version-2.jpg - licensed by Creative Commons - cc-by-sa-nc-3.0-self ---- https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/3.0/us/ -Last updated:10:56, 24 December 2016 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Image: Write-a-Venture-Capital-Proposal-Step-5-Version-2 | By:Wikivisual0 - Link:https://www.wikihow.com/images/4/41/Write-a-Venture-Capital-Proposal-Step-5-Version-2.jpg - licensed by Creative Commons - cc-by-sa-nc-3.0-self ---- https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/3.0/us/ -Last updated:10:56, 24 December 2016 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Image: Write-a-Venture-Capital-Proposal-Step-6-Version-2 | By:Wikivisual0 - Link:https://www.wikihow.com/images/6/60/Write-a-Venture-Capital-Proposal-Step-6-Version-2.jpg - licensed by Creative Commons - cc-by-sa-nc-3.0-self ---- https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/3.0/us/ -Last updated:10:56, 24 December 2016 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Image: Write-a-Venture-Capital-Proposal-Step-7 | By:Wikivisual0 - Link:https://www.wikihow.com/images/f/f0/Write-a-Venture-Capital-Proposal-Step-7.jpg - licensed by Creative Commons - cc-by-sa-nc-3.0-self ---- https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/3.0/us/ -Last updated:10:56, 24 December 2016 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Image: Write-a-Venture-Capital-Proposal-Step-8 | By:Wikivisual0 - Link:https://www.wikihow.com/images/8/85/Write-a-Venture-Capital-Proposal-Step-8.jpg - licensed by Creative Commons - cc-by-sa-nc-3.0-self ---- https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/3.0/us/ -Last updated:10:56, 24 December 2016 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Website---------------------------------https://www.wikihow.com------------------- ---------------------------------------------- -------------------------References--------------------- ---https://www.sba.gov/starting-business/finance-your-business/venture-capital/venture-capital ---http://www.slideshare.net/AndreaComastri/11-key-elements-of-a-high-quality-business-investment-proposal ---http://careers.williams.edu/files/plan.pdf ---http://careers.williams.edu/files/plan.pdf ---http://careers.williams.edu/files/plan.pdf ---http://careers.williams.edu/files/plan.pdf ---http://ca

UnCommon Core | Human Capital Investment, Inequality, and Growth

01:02:16
Recently the seeming permanence of the rise of earnings inequality has motivated policy proposals to mitigate its impact, including more progressive income taxation, wealth and inheritance taxes, and pay regulation. In this UnCommon Core, economist Kevin Murphy argues that most of these treat the symptom rather than the disease. Instead he suggests a focus on the supply side, where the human capital choices of individuals and families affect the skill composition of the labor force. ➡ Subscribe: http://bit.ly/UCHICAGOytSubscribe About #UChicago: A destination for inquiry, research, and education, the University of Chicago empowers scholars to challenge conventional thinking. The early stage investor has backed about 40 startups, both in his personal capacity and through various angel networks. “Startup investments allows investors to move the needle and make a meaningful contribution to the venture, unlike other assets classes (equities, gold and others) where you have to wait and watch how the market reacts,” Mehta told Techcircle.in. Going forward, Mehta says he will explore investments in early-stage ventures that specialise in big data, marketing automation, productivity enhancement, location services and quick services restaurants besides medical devices. Mehta lists marketplaces, e-commerce platforms and home services ventures’ among the 15 startup ideas he would refrain from funding. Mehta’s portfolio includes names such as Zippr Smart Address, AllizHealth, Prettysecrets.com, and Poncho (Box8.in) besides others. He is a member of Indian Angel Network, Mumbai Angels, Venture Nursery, B2B1K Ventures and CIO Angel Network. As an entrepreneur, his most recent venture was MAIA Intelligence. Last year, its business was recently sold to publicly-listed Datamatics Global Services. Value for Money: Identifying/Screening PPP Proposals in South Africa

01:03:32
In 1997, the South African Cabinet approved an inter-departmental task team to create a package of policy, legislative, and institutional reforms to create an enabling environment for PPPs. To facilitate this work, several pioneering PPPs were carried out by the South African Roads Agency, Department of Public Works and Correctional Services, South African National Parks, and two municipalities. The lessons learned from these preliminary projects helped in the development of a strategic framework for PPPs in 1999. The Parliament of South Africa passed the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) in 1999. In 2000, the National Treasury enacted Treasury Regulation 16 in terms of the PFMA, which outlined the definitions and functions of PPP. This led to the establishment of the PPP Unit within the National Treasury and the publication of the Public Private Partnership Manual in 2004, which has since been updated to reflect changes to law and policy. The Government Technical Advisory Centre (GTAC) provides specialized analytical support to the National Treasury for the assessment of proposed large infrastructure investments. Project appraisals of megaprojects are undertaken to determine the likely economic and financial viability of the project, particularly where financial support is being requested from the fiscus. GTAC also performs related types of analysis, such as the likely impact of infrastructure investments on the financial sustainability of public utilities, financial cost comparisons of different elements of proposed investment programs, and potential funding mechanisms for infrastructure projects and programs. GTAC’s aim is to ensure that support is provided to the government in identifying public projects that offer the greatest value for money and contribute the most toward promoting economic growth and social welfare. The Capital Projects Unit has developed in-house methodologies for assessing projects and programs. GTAC seeks to assess proposals based on their value for money. Value is the economic and social activities the infrastructure supports, and money is the cost to put the infrastructure in place. The Capital Projects Unit assesses a proposal’s value for money by examining its social and economic context, demand, viability, financial aspects, and project deliverability.

To be able to compete with traditional insurance players, decentralized risk carriers need to be able to trustlessly invest capital in a way that generates interest. There are a number of exciting possibilities and proposals being created within the blockchain world that would allow an entity’s assets to earn a stable, predictable return whilst retaining enough liquidity to allow the entity to meet its liabilities. During his talk at D1Conf, Reinis Melbardis of Nexus Mutual explored the characteristics, risk profiles, and challenges of the nascent asset classes being built on-chain by the open financial ecosystem and explained how to assess their suitability to act as investment assets for a decentralized risk carrier. The Woodford funds compared

03:22
At Woodford, we’re keen that investors understand their investments and how they are managed. We want to ensure the right people invest in the right funds for the right reasons, making informed investment decisions based on what’s right for them. We offer three funds – all managed by Neil Woodford. The purpose of this film is to explain the key differences between the funds and help you decide whether any of them are suitable for you. Find out more: https://woodfordfunds.com/funds/ What are the risks? – The value of investments and any income from them may go down as well as up, so you may get back less than you invested – Past performance cannot be relied upon as a guide to future performance – The annual management charge applicable to the funds is charged to capital, so the income of the funds may be higher but capital growth may be restricted or capital may be eroded – The funds may invest in other transferable securities, money market instruments, warrants, collective investment schemes and deposits – The funds may invest in overseas securities and be exposed to currencies other than pound sterling. – The CF Woodford Income Focus Fund will be invested in a concentrated portfolio of securities – the fund is not restricted by reference to any geographical region, sector or market capitalisation – The CF Woodford Equity Income Fund may invest in unquoted securities, which may be less liquid and more difficult to realise than publicly traded securities Important information Before investing, you should read the Key Investor Information Document (KIID) for the fund, and the Prospectus which, along with our terms and conditions, can be obtained from the downloads page or from our registered office. If you have a financial adviser, you should seek their advice before investing. Woodford Investment Management Ltd is not authorised to provide investment advice. You should note that capital is at risk with these investments and you may get back less than you invested. The value of the fund or trust as well as any income paid will fluctuate which may partly be the result of exchange rate changes. The price of shares in the Woodford Patient Capital Trust is determined by market supply and demand, and this may be different to the net asset value of the trust. The Woodford Patient Capital Trust currently intends to conduct its affairs so that its securities can be recommended by IFAs to ordinary retail investors in accordance with the FCA’s rules in relation to non-mainstream investment products and intends to continue to do so for the foreseeable future. The securities are excluded from the FCA’s restrictions which apply to non-mainstream investment products because they are shares in an investment trust. Young businesses have a different risk profile to mature blue-chip companies – risks are much more stock-specific, which implies a lower correlation with equity markets and the wider economy. Long-term outcomes are more binary – extremely attractive rewards for success but some businesses will inevitably fail to fulfil their potential and this may expose Woodford Patient Capital Trust investors to the risk of capital losses. As it can take years for young businesses to fulfil their potential, this investment requires patience.

IMF: President Trump's tax proposals pose a major financial risk

01:24
The International Monetary Fund warned that U.S. President Donald Trump's proposed tax cuts and roll-back of financial regulations could spark a new round of financial risk-taking of the type that preceded the last crisis in 2008. The IMF said in its semi-annual Global Financial Stability Report that risks to stability have generally diminished in the last six months amid stronger global economic growth and higher interest rates that have improved bank earnings. The Fund however fears that already highly leveraged U.S. companies may not be in a position to translate a cash-flow boost from U.S. Republican tax reform proposals into productive capital investments that can aid sustainable growth Subscribe to us on YouTube: http://ow.ly/Zvqj30aIsgY Follow us on: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/cgtnafrica/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/cgtnafrica

Bangladesh Investment & Policy Summit 2016 - Day 2

03:31
Bangladesh Investment & Policy Summit 2016 Day 2 | January 25, 2016 At a post-meet news conference, FBCCI President Abdul Matlub Ahmed claimed to have portrayed Bangladesh as an attractive investment destination. The conference took place amid the gloom in investment despite improvement in several key economic indexes over the past few years. A day before, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the summit and urged local and foreign entities to invest in Bangladesh, which she said has changed in the last five years. Later, at the media call in the presence of Matlub Ahmed, Kamal said: “Money breeds money. The $11 billion worth of investment proposals made in this summit will bring in more investment if we can implement them.” “We’ve been able to show our positive side to them,” added BILD Chairman Asif Ibrahim. A former Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry chief, he said recommendations made in the summit include making the listing on the capital market easy, making available suitable land to set up factories, developing skilled human resources, establishing an investment bank for long-term financing, making the process to leave business, agreement and tax holiday easy and updating foreign investment law.

Like all capital budgeting tools, the profitability index can be very helpful when comparing the potential returns of various capital budgeting proposals. Similar to the net present value (NPV), the profitability index requires a knowledge of the present value of future cash flows as well as the initial investment required to start the project. In this video we'll explore how to calculate the profitability index and compare the profitability index to the net present value.
