Small Office Networking - Intro (series part 1)

08:45
First in a series of videos that covers the task of creating a small office network. The series will cover: 1. Basic network connectivity an hardware 2. File sharing 3. adding a shared printer 4. WiFi access The goal is to take a potentially complex task and break it into simple chapters. The target audience of this videos (and the series to follow) is non-technical people who need to build a computer network quickly without all the technical details and theory. You might think of this as a "networking for dummies". But, that certainly doesn't imply there is anything dumb about people who are trying to find a way to do things themselves! If you are watching this because you find network and telecommunications interesting, you might be wondering if this field could be a career for you. If so, you might be very interested in my other channel where I have started a series for people considering becoming network and telecom professionals https://youtu.be/Rt3TBqChhFM Before you rush out and buy the Netgear switches, the Linksys routers, etc, take a some time to watch this video and othrers like it to understand the parts and techniques that make up a small office network. This will prevent you from over-spending or buy equipment you don't need.

Still confused about NAS? NAS explained in 3 minutes

03:54
What is NAS and why you need it http://www.span.com/l/vjLB9v Network-attached storage (NAS) is file-level computer data storage connected to a computer network providing data access to heterogeneous network clients. A NAS unit is essentially a self-contained computer connected to a network, with the sole purpose of supplying file-based data storage services to other devices on the network. The operating system and other software on the NAS unit provide the functionality of data storage, file systems, and access to files, and the management of these functionalities. The unit is not designed to carry out general-purpose computing tasks, although it may technically be possible to run other software on it. NAS units usually do not have a keyboard or display, and are controlled and configured over the network, often by connecting a browser to their network address. The alternative to NAS storage on a network is to use a computer as a file server. In its most basic form a dedicated file server is no more than a NAS unit with keyboard and display and an operating system which, while optimised for providing storage services, can run other tasks; however, file servers are increasingly used to supply other functionality, such as supplying database services, email services, and so on. A general-purpose operating system is not needed on a NAS device, and often minimal-functionality or stripped-down operating systems are used. For example FreeNAS, which is Free / open source NAS software designed for use on standard computer hardware, is just a version of FreeBSD with all functionality not related to data storage stripped out. NASLite is a highly optimized Linux distribution running from a floppy disk for the sole purpose of a NAS. Likewise, NexentaStor is based upon the core of the NexentaOS, a Free / open source hybrid operating system with an OpenSolaris core and a GNU user environment. NAS systems contain one or more hard disks, often arranged into logical, redundant storage containers or RAID arrays (redundant arrays of inexpensive/independent disks). NAS removes the responsibility of file serving from other servers on the network. NAS uses file-based protocols such as NFS (popular on UNIX systems) or SMB/CIFS (Server Message Block/Common Internet File System) (used with MS Windows systems). NAS units rarely limit clients to a single protocol. NAS provides both storage and filesystem. This is often contrasted with SAN (Storage Area Network), which provides only block-based storage and leaves filesystem concerns on the "client" side. SAN protocols are SCSI, Fibre Channel, iSCSI, ATA over Ethernet (AoE), or HyperSCSI. Despite differences SAN and NAS are not exclusive and may be combined in one solution: SAN-NAS hybrid The boundaries between NAS and SAN systems are starting to overlap, with some products making the obvious next evolution and offering both file level protocols (NAS) and block level protocols (SAN) from the same system. However a SAN device is usually served through NAS as one large flat file, not as a true filesystem. An example of this is Openfiler, a free software product running on Linux. Home Network and SOHO network | computer Networking Part-3

03:37
SOHO stands for small office/home office. SOHOs usually consist of businesses that are privately owned or individuals who are self-employed, so the term usually refers to both a small office space as well as a small number of employees. Since the workload for these types of businesses are often primarily on the internet, they require a local area network (LAN), which means their network hardware is structured specifically for that purpose. A SOHO network can be a mixed network of wired and wireless computers just like other local networks. Since these types of networks are meant for businesses, they also tend to include printers and sometimes voice over IP (VoIP) and fax over IP technology. A SOHO router is a model of broadband router built and marketed for use by such organizations. These are often the same routers used for standard home networking. Note: SOHO is sometimes referred to as a virtual office or single location firm. SOHO Routers vs. Home Routers While home networks shifted to predominantly Wi-Fi configurations years ago, SOHO routers continued to feature wired Ethernet. In fact, many SOHO routers did not support Wi-Fi at all. Typical examples of Ethernet SOHO routers were common such as the TP-Link TL-R402M (4-port), TL-R460 (4-port), and TL-R860 (8-port). Another common feature of older routers was ISDN internet support. Small businesses relied on ISDN for internet connectivity as a faster alternative to dial-up networking. Modern SOHO routers require most all the same functions as home broadband routers, and in fact small businesses use the same models. Some vendors also sell routers with more advanced security and manageability features added, like the ZyXEL P-661HNU-Fx Security Gateway, a DSL broadband router with SNMP support. Another example of a popular SOHO router is the Cisco SOHO 90 Series, which is meant for up to 5 employees and includes firewall protection and VPN encryption. Other Types of SOHO Network Equipment Printers that combine the features of a basic printer with copy, scanning, and fax capability are popular with home office professionals. These so-called all-in-one printers include Wi-Fi support for joining to a home network. SOHO networks sometimes also operate an intranet web, email, and file server. These servers can be high-end PCs with added storage capacity (multi-drive disk arrays). Issues with SOHO Networking Security challenges impact SOHO networks more than other kinds of networks. Unlike larger ones, small businesses generally cannot afford to hire professional staff to manage their networks. Small businesses also are more likely targets of security attacks than households due to their financial and community position. As a business grows, it can be difficult to know how much to invest in the network infrastructure to keep it expanding to meet the company's needs. Over-investing too soon wastes valuable funds, while under-investing can significantly impact business productivity. Monitoring the network load and the responsiveness of the company's top few business applications can help identify bottlenecks before they become critical. How Small Is the "S" in SOHO? The standard definition limits SOHO networks to those that support between 1 and 10 people, but there isn't any magic that happens when the 11th person or device joins the network. The term "SOHO" is used only to identify a small network, so the number isn't as relevant. In practice, SOHO routers can support somewhat larger networks than this. website:-https://coderworld109.blogspot.in

How to Set Up a Computer Network | Internet Setup

02:02
Watch more How to Set Up Internet videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/499708-How-to-Set-Up-a-Computer-Network-Internet-Setup So you want to set up a computer network. I'm going to show you how to do it. Right here, we have two of my computers. I have a MacBook here, and a PC here. And, they both have Ethernet ports, but where do connect them to? I can't really connect them to each other. I mean, that would work for certain things, but it's not a real network. What I need is something like this: a router. Now, a router has a bunch of ports in the back that I can connect to multiple computers, and it also works wirelessly, so I can connect more computers without cables. But right now, I'm going to show you how to connect them with cables. And to do that, we're going to need a bunch of these Ethernet cables. So I'm just going to get one of these, hook it up to my Mac, and the other side is going to go to one of these ports on my router. I'm going to do the same with my PC. I'm going to take this port right here, and the other side will go right to my router. Now, what the router is doing right now is giving both of the computers something called IP Addresses, which is their numbers on the network. These are the numbers that these computers have, so that other computers can talk to them, and know how to address them. The third thing you could do with your router is connect it to the Internet, so that both of these computers could also have Internet access, and the way you do it is by hooking up an Ethernet cable to the one port in the back that looks different from all the other ports. So, if you look at the back, there are four ports that you can use for computers, and then there's one port usually marked as WAN, or Internet, or Uplink, that we can take our cable to. And then, the other side goes to our DSL or cable modem and gives us Internet. And that's basically how we set up a simple computer network. With a router, you can connect Macs and Pc's on a combined network. And you don't really have too much headaches and compatibility issues, because they all use the same standard, and it just works.

Basic Network Devices

08:59
Basic Network Devices So here are few basic device which are used in computer network. 1 Computer As a network can be established without a computer, It can be in any form from a Personal computer to a programmed device with a small processor in it. Now computers are of different different types. As you know PC or laptops are basic computer devices which are used in homes for basic or some general purposes. Other types of computer are Servers which are powerful and serve a particular purpose. Example are File server, mail server and lot more. And super computers that are used for typical calculation such as weather forecasts, and other complicated tasks. Now another type of network device is HUB Basically a hub is a half-duplex device which is used to connect multiple computers in a network. The bad part of it is, that it floods the data in it's network to all it's ports. Other limitations are that it divide it's bandwidth between the connected computer. Example if a hub have 10 computer connected and it have a bandwidth of 100 MB/sec then each computer will get 10MB/s. In this way the more devices are connected there will be more lag. Now there are Active Hubs and Passive hub Now active hub acts as a repeater, that mean it concentrate the received signal and amplify it. However passive hubs are dumb and just do it's flooding. And now a days HUBs are not used, they are outdated. SWITCH A switch is a smart device which is used to connect multiple computers in a network. Now it is an intelligent hub which is able to remember the computer location. It maps it's ports with the mac address of the particular computer connected to it. It store this data in a CAM table. And refresh it always in few milliseconds. It also have an ability to create VLAN and separate collision domain; that means the 2 computers which are sending and receiving data seemed connected with a single wire. Thus improving speed and no bandwidth distribution. Now switch are of two types 1. Un-managed switches: These are automatic and you can't control their function and these switches works on their own. Such type of switches are used in small business. 2. Managed Switches : Managed switches gives control over their functionality. These type of switches are used in Big industries. And you can control the function of the switch like bandwidth on port, VLAN configuration and a lot other thing. The sub categories are Smart Switches : which basically have a simple web interface to change basic settings and are used in Gigabyte ethernet. Enterprise Managed Switches : have almost every function configurable. Can modify or copy the network configuration. Also it have it's own Command line access to control everything. Another type of Basic Network Devices are Routers These are the devices which are used to connect two different networks. Routers route the packets to it's right destination by reading the Packet header for it's destination IP and then by it's routing table it forward the packet. It have two types of Routing One is Static in which you need to manually set the rules but it is prone to failures and not used. And other is Dynamic routing, which find the best route by it's routing protocols. In this way a packet is transferred to right destination. Now a days router are so smart and complex that they can do a lot more things other than routing only. SOHO routers have their wireless access point, they act as gateway, DHCP server, they have inbuilt firewall and a lot more things. Modem : Modem stands for modulator-demodulator. And it convert computer signals into analog one so that those signals can be sent over the telephone lines. Firewall A fire wall is a Hardware Device or a Software which is used to secure our computer or network. It filters all malicious packets and block them. Also it can work according to a user. People can set their own firewall rules to block or accept a connection. Software firewalls can be found in Windows PC and hardware firewalls are used in big enterprise Networks. Patch panel is a device which have same type of ports to increase connections and is used for routing circuits for testing. So these were the basic network devices. Start a Computer Consulting Business!

07:48
http://SuccessfulComputerConsulting.com - If you're a Computer Consultant, you could be making $66K working 10 Hours a WEEK doing Independent Computer Consulting! Learn how at: http://SuccessfulComputerConsulting.com Do you have the Network Administration skills to support a small business network? Then you should start your own Independent Computer Consulting business! The following video is the first in a four-part series, which debunks the most common excuses consultants typically give for not attempting to become their own boss. With today's low cost Network Monitoring and Remote Administration tools, it's easier than ever for a Network Administrator to support a small, but very profitable client base. I've helped many of my previous employees branch out on their own to become very successful Independent Consultants and they now continue to help me support my growing client base as outsourced contractors. It's a very healthy win-win situation. As an Independent Computer Consultant, you'll have a level of job security you'll never be able to obtain working for someone else, an unmatched opportunity for technical and professional growth and you'll be able to make better than a full-time salary while working far less than the standard, 40 hour work week. Working as an Independent Computer Consultant is honestly the best possible job for someone with Network Administration skills, plus it's the perfect business model for supporting the small business customer. Most consultants I meet hesitate to try and start their own business because they think they'll need to find lots and lots of high-paying clients who can provide tons of billable hours and big projects. Nothing could be further from the truth. Here in New York, an Independent Computer Consultant with a client base of FOUR small business clients (an average of 10 workstations each), can be making over $66K annually while working approximately 10 hours a week. Of course, you have the option to work more than that and make much more money, but the point is that a steady, sustainable salary can be reached quickly and easily. I've put together a website designed to instruct and assist new Independent Computer Consultants reach this level of success as quickly as possible. It's located at http://www.SuccessfulComputerConsulting.com. On the site are a collection of free videos showing you exactly how you can obtain the results that I've helped many other consultants achieve. You'll need to register on the site to gain access to the videos, but registration is completely free and takes less than a minute to complete. So, what's my motivation for suggesting to you that you become your own boss? I have several reasons. Well, I spent a lot of years struggling to achieve the level of success I now enjoy. If I knew then what I know now, my road to success would have been much shorter and far easier. I've shared what I've learned with many of the consultants I've come to know personally over the years, and they've gone on to achieve greater levels of personal and financial freedom than I could ever have provided them if I held onto them as "employees". And because I've built my own business to take full advantage of the use of Independent contractors, the more they prosper, the more I prosper as well. The personal reward I get from knowing that I've helped a friend develop a career where they'll never again need to worry about finding employment, paying the bills or becoming stagnant in their quest for personal growth can't possibly be expressed adequately in words. Because I know how to quickly and easily build a profitable Independent Computer Consulting business, and I know how to transfer that knowledge to others and watch them succeed, I've become addicted to wanting to help more. This passion for wanting to see others reach a level of success that they either didn't realize was possible or thought would be too great a challenge to attempt is the primary reason behind why I created the http://www.SuccessfulComputerConsulting.com website. The realization of how many more people I could help by sharing my processes over the web made the development of this website a very rewarding experience. I sincerely hope you'll consider my advice of pursuing a career as an Independent Computer Consultant and at the very least, check out the free videos I've made available on my website. I don't believe you'll find a more rewarding career opportunity anywhere. To your success! -Robert Peretson

Cloud Computing Services Models - IaaS PaaS SaaS Explained

06:43
https://ecoursereview.com/cloud-computing-pros-and-cons-for-business-it/ 3 Types of Cloud Computing Services: IaaS PaaS SaaS Explained You Might Wonder – What Is Cloud Computer: #Cloudcomputing is a set of forms that contain certain elements that allows for on-demand, network access, scalability, and shared resources. It's a platform for managing, storing, and processing data online through the internet. Some of the cloud computing features include the following: - On-Demand Services – Available when you need it - Network Access – When using the internet as your medium - Shared Resources – All resources are gathered together and used by multiple customers - Scalability - The ability of a computer system to adapt to increasing demands The Three Delivery Models: Cloud computing provides different services based on three delivery configurations. When they are arranged in a pyramid structure, they are in the order of SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS. The Three Services: #SaaS - Software as a Service This service provides on-demand pay per use of the application software for users and is independent of a platform. You do not have to install software on your computer, unlike a license paid program. Cloud runs a single occurrence of the software, making it available for multiple end-users allowing the service to be cheap. All the computing resources that are responsible for delivering SaaS are totally managed by the vendor. The service is accessible through a web browser or lightweight client applications. End customers use SaaS regularly. The most popular SaaS providers offer the following products and services: Google Ecosystem including Gmail, Google Docs, Google Drive, Microsoft Office 365, and SalesForce. #PaaS - Platform as a Service This service is mostly a development environment that is made up of a programming language execution environment, an operating system, web server, and database. It provides an environment where users can build, compile, and run their program without worrying about an hidden infrastructure. You manage the data and application resources. All the other resources are managed by the vendor. This is the realm for developers. PaaS providers offer the following products and services: Amazon Web services, Elastic Beanstalk, Google App Engine, Windows Azure, Heroku, and Force.com #IaaS - Infrastructure as a Service This service provides the architecture and infrastructure. It provides all computing resources but in a virtual environment so multiple users can have access. The resources include data storage, virtualization, servers, and networking. Most vendors are responsible for managing them. If you use this service, you are responsible for handling other resources including applications, data, runtime, and middleware. This is mostly for SysAdmins. IaaS providers offer the following products and services: Amazon EC2, Go Grid, and Rackspace.com. Here is a short list of some companies that use cloud computing: iCloud – Cloud from Apple is for Apple products. You can backup and store everything from multimedia to documents online. The content is then smoothly integrated onto your devices. Amazon's AWS - When you talk about companies using cloud computing, Amazon Web Services leads the pack. It offers IaaS and PaaS to all their customers. Google Cloud – This cloud platform is universal for Google's enormous ecosystem and for other products such as Microsoft Office. It provides storage of data and collaboration along with other services that are included in their cloud computing suite. Microsoft Azure – Offered by Microsoft, it provides SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS for its software and developer tools. If you have used Office 365, then you have used SaaS. IBM Smart Cloud - This offers private, public, and hybrid distribution platforms providing a full range of SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS cloud computing services for businesses. The pay as you go platform generates profits for IBM. New technology is popping up all over the internet and Cloud seems to be on the rise. This is only scratching the surface on what is already available and what will become available throughout 2017. --- 3 Types of Cloud Computing Services - IaaS PaaS SaaS Explained https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=36zducUX16w #CloudComputingServices #CloudComputing --- Follow us on https://www.facebook.com/EcourseReviews https://twitter.com/EcourseReviews https://plus.google.com/+Ecoursereview/posts https://ecoursereview.com/
