We created the Bloomberg Global Business Forum because international trade plays a vital role in addressing global challenges, and the more that businesses and governments cooperate, the more progress can be made. Glad to convene these extraordinary leaders from both groups – working together to tackle issues neither can solve alone. Watch here for the live broadcast of the Bloomberg Global Business Forum in New York City on September 26, 2018. Visit https://BloombergGBF.com to learn more about the speakers and agenda.

Lemonade CEO Daniel Schreiber discuss the vast expansion of Lemonade – the insurance company powered by AI – with Julie VerHage and Emily Chang on Bloomberg Technology. When asked what Lemonade’s ambitions are for the future, Schreiber responded: “Our ambitions are expansive...we expect to launch internationally as soon as the end of this year, which is unusual. Insurance companies usually stop at the water’s edge, but we are looking at a global expansion. And yes, we’re covering today homeowners and renters and condos, but Lemonade is an insurance carrier that is licensed to sell any kind of [property and casualty] insurance...So you can expect us to be expanding both in terms of the lines that we offer and in terms of the geographies that we cover.” For an up to date list of where Lemonade’s available, check here ⟶ http://bit.ly/2PwMjqx For behind-the-scenes reports that lay out some stats, metrics, and what Lemonade’s up to, go here ⟶ http://bit.ly/2wEOOzd .....................................................................................................................................................................

Entrepreneur, philanthropist and former New York City Mayor Michael R. Photo by Tommy LaVergne. Rice President David Leebron welcomed Bloomberg to Rice and lauded him for his business and public service pursuits, calling him “one of the most extraordinary philanthropists of our time.” Founder of Bloomberg LP and Bloomberg Philanthropies, Bloomberg became mayor of New York City less than four months after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. His administration raised high school graduation rates by 40 percent, cut crime by one-third and reduced the city’s carbon footprint by nearly 20 percent. In addition, his administration’s economic policies helped to create a record number of jobs. The technology startup he launched in 1981 to provide real-time data and analysis to the financial services industry grew into a global company that now employs more than 19,000 people — including 13 Rice alumni — in 73 countries. He led the company for 20 years before being elected mayor, and since leaving City Hall in 2013, resumed leadership of Bloomberg LP.
