How to Block Adult Content Over Internet

13:58
Blocking Adult Sites over Internet 1 Log into an administrator account on your Windows 8 computer. 2.Open “Control Panel” and click on “Network and Internet.” 3.Click on “Internet options.” The Internet Properties window will display on-screen. 4.Click on the “Content” tab. 5.Click on the button that reads “Family Safety.” 6.Click on the user account for which you want adult sites blocked. 7.Select “On” next to “Family Safety.” 8.Click on “Web filtering.” 9.Select the option that reads, “can only use the websites I allow.” 10.Select a restriction level from the options provided. Most of the options provided will block adult sites by default, as noted in their descriptions. For example, if you want a particular user to only view websites approved for use by children, select “Designed for children.” 11.Close the Internet options window. Adult websites will now be blocked going forward for that particular user. Method 2: Blocking Adult Sites using Browser Extensions / Add-ons 1 Open the Internet browser you use regularly for browsing the Web. 2 Navigate to your browser’s extensions or add-ons menu. For example, if using Google Chrome, click on the Chrome Menu button and select “Extensions” from the left pane. If using Firefox, click on the "Tools" ► "Add-ons" menu. 3 Select the option to browse, or get more extensions. A new tab will open in your browser session that allows you to search for more extensions. 4 Type keywords into the search field to locate extensions and add-ons that block adult sites. For example, type “parental controls” or “block adult sites.” 5 Browse through extensions and add-ons until you find an extension you can download that blocks adult sites. Examples of such extensions are WebFilter Pro and Website Blocker. 6 Select the option to download or add the extension to your Web browser. Based on the extension you download, you may need to modify certain settings to ensure adult content is blocked. Contact the developer of the extension or add-on directly if you need further assistance with using the extension to block adult sites. Method 3: Blocking Adult Sites using SafeSearch in Google 1 Go to Google’s Search Settings page at http://www.google.com/preferences. 2 Place a checkmark next to “Filter explicit results.” 3 Scroll to the bottom of the Web page and click on “Save.” Going forward, any sexually-explicit content will be automatically filtered and removed from Google Search. Your SafeSearch settings will reset if you delete browser cookies. When deleting cookies from your Web history, you must re-enable SafeSearch in the Search Settings menu.

How to block advertisements (& other recommended Internet Explorer settings)

02:34
Recommended settings for Internet Explorer, and how to block (most) website advertisements. Applies to IE 9, 10, 11, and beyond. Not sure about Project Spartan yet. (Update: Project Spartan is Microsoft Edge, and no it does not have any Tracking Protection Lists feature.) If I comment as RoboMWM, that's my commenting channel as I will never ever screw up my channel by linking it to a dead, convoluted social network. (Update: Finally YouTube has removed the G+ requirement to comment.) I'm sooooo tempted to put ads on this video since it's like my second-popular video... :P Thanks to Google+ I can't comment without doing all sorts of weird merging and junk-loading. So here's an FAQ: Q: Why do I still see ads in videos? A: Videos are either flash-based or HTML5-based, and either way, in simple terms, the video is seen as one element - the video. So IE isn't going to try to mess around with the video itself. There probably is an add-on for IE to facilitate this; please comment if you know where such one is. Personally, I simply use MyTube or TubeCast, which are excellent apps found in the Windows 8/Windows Phone store - both which eliminate all types of YouTube ads completely, as well as having a much better design. Q: This doesn't work A: No ad-blocker is perfect. In this case, it depends on what lists you install. However, as long as the personal list is enabled, IE will "learn" which web elements commonly appear (which generally are ads) in websites you visit, and will eventually block them. Q: The lists you show in this video aren't there A: Yes, some lists have been removed. Personally, I don't use a list, and I let Internet Explorer figure out the ads itself with the personalized list. However, I believe the Easylist and Easystandard lists replicate the popular add-on Adblocker, so that's probably a good starting point. http://thepctechguy.webs.com

How to work with Internet Explorer Compatibility View

01:25
Learn how to avoid browser incompatibility issues by availing the compatibility view option in Internet Explorer Don't forget to check out our site http://howtech.tv/ for more free how-to videos! http://youtube.com/ithowtovids - our feed http://www.facebook.com/howtechtv - join us on facebook https://plus.google.com/103440382717658277879 - our group in Google+ In this tutorial, we will show you how to work with internet explorer compatibility view. Sometimes websites are not displayed correctly. This might be due to browser incompatibility issues, problems with the website's server or interruptions in your internet connection. If a website is not compatible, internet explorer has a feature which allows you to view these websites exactly as you would view them in previous versions. The internet explorer compatibility option corrects the display problems and allows you to use the website without any disruptions. Step 1 -- Compatibility View Settings In order to get started, open up any website and click on the "Page" menu located at the toolbar on the top of your screen. When the new menu opens up, click on the "Compatibility View Settings" option. You can also open the Compatibility View Settings window by moving over to the "Tools" dropdown menu and clicking on the "Compatibility View Settings" option. Step 2 -- Adjust Compatibility View Settings Once done, the Compatibility View Settings window will appear.
